"The guys at Driveway911 were amazing to work with, unlike some other companies we worked with in the past. They explained every step of the process, and put any questions or concerns I had at ease. They left the job site clean and neat! Two thumbs up!!!!"

"Absolutely superb! Nick has a great eye and chose perfect Flagstone and edging for the project. We are halfway through, just waiting on the weather to permit planting. I would highly recommend this company to do your landscaping. They listen, have great ideas, excellent prices, and do a wonderful job."

"After I purchased the service (via a deal on Angie's List), the provider emailed me the same day and requested that I call him.  I did so and scheduled the service for a couple of days afterward, when I could be home. The provider arrived in a pickup with two helpers, and I walked him around the property showing him what needed to be done. The crew finished the work in a little over an hour and a half.

The deal specified that the provider was not responsible for hauling the yard waste.  I was a little surprised, however, that they did not even provide yard waste bags or similar; I had to run to the store quickly to get some. The overall quality of the work was fine -- they removed what needed removing, as I asked.  There were a few cases where I would've preferred that the weeds be pulled out rather than just cut down with a weed-whacker -- mostly volunteer tree seedlings that I'll now have to cut down or take out again.

On the whole, I would use this provider again for bed cleanup and similar services.

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should lightly wet the sand with a hose before laying the pavers on top. This activates the bonding agents in the sand, ensuring that your pavers don’t shift around during the installation process. However, you should make sure that the sand is not soaked; overwatering can cause the sand and pavers to not set properly.

Wet cutting is usually the preferred method. It controls dust, which helps protect your lungs and makes for a cleaner working environment. Plus, the water cools the blade, preventing overheating and prolonging its life while providing smoother, more precise cuts. The downside is the mess—water and asphalt sludge can be messy to clean. Dry cutting, though convenient if water isn’t available, creates a lot of dust, which can be harmful. This also increases the risk of blade damage due to overheating. So, if you have the option, wet cutting is the better method for most asphalt jobs.

The stones do not work well on uneven ground. If the stones are not buried into the ground and made level upon installation, they almost certainly will shift or crack on uneven ground. Additionally, rainwater or water from sprinklers can run under the edge of an uneven paver, causing erosion. In a freeze and thaw cycle, trapped water under the paver can cause the problem to worsen by shifting the stepping stones around. Use a bubble level to make sure the ground under each paver is as even as possible, even if the nearby ground is uneven.

An asphalt driveway should be at least 3 inches thick over a compacted gravel base. Areas with poor drainage should have a thicker stone base. To install a new asphalt driveway over an existing driveway, the new asphalt should be at least 2 inches thick and the existing driveway should be in relatively good condition.

Driveways should be sloped with a minimum 2% slope—anything lower will cause precipitation and runoff to collect. A 2% slope is the equivalent of a 2-foot rise over 100 feet. One quick way to check the integrity of your driveway’s slope: no more than four inches of water should collect on the surface longer than 15 minutes after rain.
