"Recently had Quality Carpentry and Remodeling LLC build/replace the stairs on my deck, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From the very beginning, Tom was professional, communicative, and provided a clear, fair quote. He showed up exactly when he said he would and completed the project on time. The craftsmanship is outstanding—the stairs are incredibly sturdy, perfectly level, and look fantastic. He even made sure to clean up the work area completely before leaving. I highly recommend Quality Carpentry and Remodeling LLC to anyone needing quality deck work!"
"Homexpert Contractor, Mauricio Flavio, was great. He replaced a piece of aluminum facia that was blown off by a windstorm. But more importantly, he correctly diagnosed a problem concerning the baseboard on my siding pulling away from the foundation that other contractors had missed. He made the repair and there is no indication a problem ever existed. I am very pleased with his work and would definitely use him again."
"They removed the steps to my deck. Replaced several deck boards and replaced boards to several bad areas. Build railing enclosing open area by steps. Power washed and stained enclosed deck and open deck. Fred was very courteous and informative. Did excellent work and was able to come out sooner than first thought. Would highly recommend his services to anyone interested. He was very easy to work with."
"Tim did a good job. The garage door frame replacement and siding replacement both look good. He also reconnected the drooping sides of the porch roof where cracking had occurred, taped and plastered over that to create a more firm connection."
"Very well! So much of the wood on our porch needed to be replaced and he was very helpful in knowing and getting what we needed to finish the project. He kept us informed on the progress and asked our opinion on how we wanted things to look. All the work was done in a few days and it all turned out looking great!"
"Matt is fantastic! I hired him to do some carpentry work. I know nothing about such things, and he made sure to explain everything—what he recommended, different things he could do, why he was doing certain things—and he included me in every step of the process. In addition, he is very responsive and communicates really well and PROMPTLY! He takes his work seriously, and it shows. I’ll definitely be hiring him again, and I highly recommend him!"
"The day before, the worker came out to measure and survey the job before starting. He said that he could do the work, no problem, and left. The next morning, he was there, promptly at 8:00 a.m., the agreed upon starting time. I was then presented a form, outlining work cost of $85 per hour plus materials plus $45 travel. I pointed out that I had been given a firm price. Now, I understand that every job is different and that there could be some flexibility in time, but I couldn't get an adjusted (or not to exceed) price from the installer. Could it be up to an hour? 2 hours? 4?, he didn't commit. The problem is, once the door/frame is removed, you've pretty much given them carte blanche on their time, as they can't quit until the door is installed. I didn't want to end up spending $800 or more installing a door. I don't understand why the installer wasn't aware of the price given to us by the company or why, the possible issues, presented to me, the morning of the job, weren't given the day before or during the initial discussion over the phone. We mutually agreed to cancel the service."
"Fantastic! The previous construction had a lot of errors when being built, but they managed to remedy the faults and build a beautiful set of stairs. Also worked very fast (less than 4 hours) giving them time to help me begin tiling my master bathroom. Do not hesitate to hire this company. The employees are courteous, professional, and more than competent."
"I've been using Ben Kulick landscapring for over three years here at our home in Legends Country Club in Eureka. Ben and his staff are total professiona. I love them all! Plus, they are so darn versatile. Not only have they handled my trimmings and bush / tree planting, but they also laid new drain lines and poured concrete in 2-3 areas. I'm not asure there isn't anything Ben and his crew can't handle. I don't hesitate to suggest you contact Ben to discuss any project you have If you have any questions for me: [email protected] Joe Yates 573 Fairway Oaks Drive Eureka, MO 63025"
You may need a permit to install your window seat. Even though it's an indoor modification, some municipalities require permits for any built-ins added to homes. Check with your carpenter or, if you're DIY-ing, do some research on your city's requirements.
It's possible to turn your carport into a living space, but there are additional factors to address over turning it into a garage. HVAC, plumbing, and electricity won't be optional, and you'll need finished flooring, drywall, trim work, and legal ceiling height, for starters. Also, keep in mind that living space conversions may require upgrading the foundation underneath, and the permits might be more expensive as well.
Bump-out additions can extend anywhere from 2 to 15 feet from an existing room. The right size will depend on how you plan to use the new space. For a cantilever bump-out, which doesn't require additional foundation support, the limit is typically 24 inches (2 feet). If a footing and foundation are part of the project, a bump-out can be much larger, even encompassing a whole room. It's also important to remember that many residential properties have limits on the total house size relative to the lot size.
There are both temporary and permanent ways to enclose a carport. If you’re looking to enclose your carport for the winter, a canvas enclosure could do the trick. It won’t be as protective as a permanent structure, but it can offer some protection from elements like snow, rain, and wind. For a permanent enclosure, you can add extra walls, add a new vertical roof, or a lean-to addition on one side of the structure.
For maximum stability, install grab bars on wall studs, as this will adequately support the weight. However, if you don't have access to studs, you can get by with wall anchors. If opting for the latter, choose specialty hollow wall anchors.
