Hi my name is Gavin. I am 19 years old and have already worked multiple different trades and I’ve learned a lot of things from professional contractors. I am now trying to start a business of my own and trying to establish jobs for myself to get this business started. If you’d like to give me the opportunity, it would be a great pleasure and I will do my best to make you happy as I should as an owner of a company I will get fair prices based on my knowledge of doing it and be completely honest with you before doing it. Thank you.

"Very professional start to finish. Received a quick detailed estimate, and scheduling and service were also very promptà ¢à  à ¦speedy in fact. Our countertops look fabulous, exceeding expectations. Ità ¢à  à  s difficult to find someone to do this work, and I had my doubts about using a company I found on the internet. But we are so glad we took the chance on Surface Link because they did a perfect job. It is Hard to find a contractor we can say that about todayà ¢à  à ¦. We are often disappointed. Not with this company. Or this technician (Steve ) who is a pro at this. Time will tell, but as of today, we are thrilled."

"We had a three year old stand-alone ice maker, an Ice-o-matic that had developed black specks in the ice. I had followed the instructions for cleaning the unit but the black specks persisted. I called Energy Solutions Thursday afternoon and the lady at Energy Solutions said Nick would be able to visit the next day, Friday, between 1 and 5 pm. On Friday, Nick called and asked if he could stop by early but my wife was busy so Nick said he would arrive at 1 pm. Nick arrived, expecting to work on a refrigerator ice maker. Somewhere communication had broken down. However, Nick dove into the unit, using our cleaning fluids which he said he would have used had we not had our own, and cleaned the unit thoroughly. He said the black specks were mold. At one point he thought we might need to add an in-line water filter to fight mineral build-up but he found little mineral build-up so no filter was needed. Nick suggested professional cleaning every six months. My wife and I are very pleased with the results."

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface materials can be cut with standard woodworking tools, such as a circular saw or a jigsaw. However, it is crucial to use the correct type of blade to avoid damaging the material.

For a circular saw, a tungsten carbide-tipped blade is required; a triple chip grind blade is highly recommended. For a jigsaw, you should use a fine-tooth down-cutting blade. Do not use blades designed for cutting wood, as they can cause microfractures that weaken the edges of the countertop. A diamond blade is also unnecessary, as those are designed for harder materials like natural stone, which Corian is not.

After cutting, the edge will be rough. It is essential to sand and smooth the cut edge to prevent microfractures, which can eventually compromise the integrity of the countertop.

Budget-friendly alternatives to granite include quartz, laminate, or solid surface materials. Quartz naturally mimics the look of granite, or homeowners can choose a laminate designed to resemble the natural stone for a much lower cost.

Kitchen counters are 36 inches high because that’s considered the ideal height for the average American adult, which is 5’9” for men and 5’4” for women. A three-foot counter height lets most people comfortably chop, cook, and clean without straining their backs, necks, and shoulders.

Concrete countertops are made food-grade through their sealant and the continued use of a food-grade cleaner. For that reason, it is important not to use acidic cleaners or bleach. Read the ingredients on any cleaner and avoid products with vinegar, acid, or anything else that could eat away at the concrete's sealant.

A minimum overhang of 10 to 12 inches is generally recommended for countertop or island seating to provide enough legroom. For increased comfort, an overhang of 15 to 18 inches is ideal, allowing for more space and a relaxed experience. However, a 10-inch overhang can be sufficient in certain situations, such as for bar-height countertops, when using small stools, or in smaller kitchens where space is limited. Taller countertops may also require less overhang than shorter ones. Ultimately, you should consider your specific needs for legroom and measure to ensure the overhang fits comfortably within your kitchen's layout.
