You can use a standard measuring tape to measure for a new shower door. You’ll need to measure two key areas:

  • Vertical opening height of the enclosure sides

  • Horizontal opening width of the enclosure base

Keep in mind that the shower walls may not be plumb in some older homes. This can complicate measuring and installing a shower door, so bringing in a pro can make things go smoother.
