"eleven hundred bux. the reason I had the old water heater removed is because it was older, meaning probably not energy efficient, but worked fine. I could see a ring of rust around the bottom, but an inspection told me that was normal and still had years of service in it. A guest kicked the old water heater and left a dent, which made me uncomfortable that the bottom could fail and someone could be hurt by boiling hot water, so I decided to replace it. The tech arrived punctual, presented himself professionally, came prepared. I also needed a shower head installed which he agreed to do for a hundred bux. When the installer was finished and we were signing off on the job, we noticed the brand new water heater had a dent in the exact same spot as the one that was being removed. When I questioned that, he apologized and offered to just not charge me for the shower head install. This is typical in St Louis. Sub par work and knock off a few bux. I personally am sick of it. Pick a professional who does work on my property; I frequently get this type of interaction: sub-par work; knock off a few bux. I have limited time. I told the technician I was not happy but I didn't see where the dent would inhibit the overall functionality of the water heater. He offered to schedule a complete re-install. I agreed to the shower head install discount and signed off. I flew out the next day for work and will be back in a few months knowing that the poor taste of low quality work will linger long after the great taste of a cheap price is gone. I could have made them install a brand new heater. I just didn't have the time. and, supposedly, the warranty will cover it. I think what bothers me the most is that this worker and pretty much all workers are on the phone while they are working these days as if that is acceptable behavior. I miss the old days when quality and pride in workmanship was normal. This company and this experience is actually pretty good compared to other companies I've dealt with over the past couple years. I'll be calling them for any work needed related to this hot water heater, maybe even take on the annual service agreement for it. I think the company overall stands behind their work."
