"The salesman was knowledgable, courteous, and answered all of our questions. The materials came in early and were installed in less time than anticipated. We are very happy with both the siding and windows and have had multiple compliments from the neighbors."

"The installers were courteous and professional. The only problem is one of the windows was delivered defective. The company quickly promised to repair it but so far has not even scheduled a repair. I don't mind if its weeks/months out, but I do want to be on the schedule. Otherwise it seems like once they had our money, they stopped caring."

"Very prompt and priced competitively to the major egress window installer in the Kansas City area. They provided a fair and prompt quote, showed up when they said they would and finished the job on time. They also come back a week after the install to add dirt around the egress window outlet after it has settled. I've recommended them and would hire them again."

Small jobs welcome

"My wife and I both highly recommend hiring Cox Homes for any remodeling projects you are considering; kitchen, bathroom, flooring, plumbing, electrical, doors, sheet rock, etc. Tyler Cox did all these tasks for us during an extensive remodel / update of our 90's kitchen, living, guest bath and utility rooms this past fall at a very reasonable price and their work quality was excellent. Tyler responded to our call promptly and set up his visit to our home within the week. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable; listened to our visions during the project, provided us with other great ideas for optional improvements and sent us his quote withing two days. We are glad to say that Cox Homes bid was so good that we were able to have Tyler also update other rooms for less than what one contractor wanted for just updating the kitchen. Tyler communicates well, shows up on time, is organized, and is meticulous about quality, housekeeping and safety. We will be hiring Cox Homes again."

"We hired Dan to install a couple of interior doors and he was very quick and efficient. Also reasonably priced compared to many others. He was friendly and honest, and I would not hesitate to hire him again!"

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Tears, holes, or difficulty in opening and closing suggest a need for repair.

Window screen repair costs an average of $310, with a typical range of $100 to $480. The final price depends on several factors, including the window size, accessibility, screen type, whether the frame needs replacement, and especially the screen material.

The cost of window screen materials varies widely based on durability and features:

  • Fiberglass: $35–$200

  • Aluminum: $50–$300

  • Copper: $90–$850

  • Stainless Steel: $45–$400

  • Brass: $100–$900

  • Solar: $55–$850

  • Security: $100–$1,000

  • Vinyl: $25–$120

Costs also differ by screen type. For instance, a prefabricated screen might cost only $40, moveable screens typically run $25 to $75, and retractable screens range from $300 to $900. To save money, you can choose more affordable materials like vinyl or fiberglass, opt to rescreen instead of replacing the entire frame, and have multiple screens repaired at once to reduce labor costs.

Yes, adding windows adds value to a brick house. Homeowners don’t shy away from more natural light and an opportunity to get fresh air. Adding a window is particularly beneficial if you live in an area with good weather for much of the year or if your home has a nice view. Keep in mind that many older brick homes have historic wood windows that add to the charm of the house. When you install a new window in a brick house, you’ll want to find one that matches the aesthetic of the existing windows.

While windows increase a home’s value, how much they increase it can vary. It depends on the age of the home and the type of windows. You can expect about 70% to 85% return on investment (ROI) when adding a window to your home.

The cost ultimately depends on size, but roughly, the most popular screen materials will set you back anywhere from around $0.25 to over $25 per square foot. Fiberglass and aluminum are usually less expensive at around $0.25 to $0.70 per square foot. Solar screens cost about $7.50 to $15 per square foot, while security screens range from around $10 to $25 per square foot.

Yes, you can add a screen door to most door frames. The screen should be able to fit standard-size door frames, so unless you have an unusually sized door, you shouldn’t have an issue. Just make sure to properly measure the frame. When in doubt, it’s best to let a pro take care of this task for you so it’s installed correctly.
