"I needed a pantry as a present for my wife. David and his crew were very prompt and efficient. We discussed what I wanted, what materials I wanted to reuse from the left over barnwood, and they went to work. "Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

A slab door is a standalone door without a frame or hardware. A prehung door is a complete set that includes the door, frame, hinges, and sometimes the doorknob and lockset.

Kick plates can absolutely be installed on metal doors. Many kick plates for metal doors are magnetic to avoid needing to drill into the metal, but many door manufacturers make kick plates that can be traditionally installed on metal doors using screws. You can use a variety of wood to build a barn door, but the most common options include 1-by boards and 2-by boards for the backing and the decorative boards on the front of the door. Softwoods like pine will save you some money and should hold up well, while hardwoods like maple and oak will stand up to more wear and tear.
