"Jacob and Cody have been amazing to work with. We originally hired them to repair our stairs and have since contracted with them to install our kitchen tile floor, install electric in our kitchen island and to repair some of our drywall. Their team is very professional, their estimates are accurate and they do quality work. We plan to hire them again when we remodel our bathrooms."

"The refacing quote was fairly priced and we are very happy with the quality. Rick runs the whole show and does everything himself. There is no middleman, sales person, or any other people you need to talk to during the job. Rick was professional, and very detail oriented - which is a must for cabinets. He took the time to do everything right, and it turned out amazing. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Cabinet Refacing by Design to anyone."

"Hired Detailed construction workers to install a dog door on an existing door. The worker first cut the hole for the dog door and then ended up cutting the hole bigger. Them Then the hole was to big for the dog door to be installed. I ended up having to run to Home Depot to get another dog door that was bigger. He went ahead and installed the bigger door after cutting the hole he previously made even bigger. The dog door that is installed now is too big for the door doing all the way up to the window area of the door. The door that closes the door so dogs are kept inside will hardly open. There is gaps between the dog door and the wooden area of the door which now requires the entire door to be replaced. The door is not a standard size door so it will have to be custom ordered costing over $800. The worker was very unorganized and kept having to stop and make several calls for someone to bring him things he needed. This took him over 5 hours to do boot finishing until 11pm. He came out today and corrected the gap on doggy door make it fully sealed, he was supper helpful to make sure I was satisfied with the worked."

Closets questions, answered by experts

There are a few reasons custom closets are expensive: materials used, the luxury factor, and time to build. The people who can afford custom closets are those who can afford increased rates, and construction workers and contractors know this and charge accordingly. The time to build custom closets is substantial, especially if expensive material is being used or intricate details (like carved wood) are added to the project.

Hanging and folding clothes are efficient ways to pack your clothes during a move. When choosing a packing method, consider the type of clothing you’re packing. For example, clothing such as dresses, suits, blouses, and items made of silk and similar fabrics are ideal for hangers. On the other hand, it’s easier to fold pants, shorts, t-shirts, thick sweaters, and more.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.

Yes, many providers offer design consultations to help optimize and maximize space, functionality, and usage. It is recommended to confirm the availability of this service with your specific installer or contractor.

The average closet remodel cost ranges between $500 and $2,500. However, the cost can vary greatly depending on the project scope. Homeowners can expect to pay $10 to $25 per square foot on a closet remodeling project.
