"If I could give this guy a zero rating I would. He came 2-19-20 to give us an estimate on our failing toilet and drippy faucet. He was coming yesterday, 2-21-20, to do the repair at 3:30pm. My husband took the afternoon off work to be home. At 3:40pm he still was not here, so I called him. He told me I should **get someone else**. He comes across as a **good old boy** and will talk your leg off. Even about other customers. He drives a retired vehicle and I would think would have ample room to stock normal plumbing repair parts such as a toilet fill valve one would think. Unreliable. Move on from him is my opinion. My husband was so mad he watched online videos, and did the necessary repairs for $20."

The amount of water wasted when a toilet ghost flushes depends on the cause of the ghost flushing. Leaky flapper valves tend to waste less water than a larger problem like a damaged flush valve that makes the toilet run constantly. Even if you don’t think you’re wasting a lot of water, it’s still a problem that should be fixed quickly. 

Some older homes have toilets in the basement to combat sewage backups. This type of toilet, also known as a Pittsburgh potty, acted as a safety valve over the incoming sewer line. If a line backed up, it would back up into the toilet because it was the lowest fixture in the home, keeping it out of sight and away from the finished areas of the house.

Basement toilets were also used by workers with messy jobs, like those who worked in coal mines or steel mills. This way, they could clean up and avoid tracking dirt through their home.

Your toilet will still flush if the septic tank is full, but it might flush more slowly. It may make gurgling sounds as the wastewater slowly drains through the pipes. You may also notice the toilet clogs up more frequently when the septic tank is full, although this can also be a sign of other plumbing issues, like a clog in the pipes.

When a pipe bursts in your home, you should cut off the water supply to the broken pipe as quickly as possible. Sometimes you can do this by turning off an isolation valve between the burst pipe and the main water line. If a pipe bursts under your kitchen sink, for example, you should have an isolation valve in the area. However, if you can't see the burst pipe or if it involves a large water supply pipe, using the main shut-off valve is the best option to quickly stop the flow of water.

You can and should use a hose to fill a hot tub. There shouldn’t be anything special about the hose other than it shouldn’t be damaged. Kinks or leaks could slow down the filling process. Attach the hose to the nearest spigot and get the water flowing.
