"Eric showed us where the bricks to the firewall were literally coming out!  We could have had an avalanche of bricks!!  He gave us two options:  one was to rebuild the back fire wall with brick, or install a one-inch steel plate.  The latter was the least expensive, so we contracted with him to replace the plate on 11/26/2014.
Our neighbor's chimney did not require any cleaning, and he charged her ZERO dollars.  THAT is amazing.

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

You can enjoy your TPO roof by making it into a rooftop deck. However, homeowners should use caution when hosting events on the roof. Specifically, no one should ever smoke a cigarette on a TPO roof, as they could burn holes in the roofing material and cause leaks. Also, it can be slippery. Homeowners can buy no-slip walk pads to keep people safe on the roof. You can also install a "floating deck" over the top of the TPO,  but your roofer has to be sure to never put any fasteners through the TPO.

Clean debris, treat for moss, and schedule regular inspections to prevent water damage.

Asphalt shingles have varying thicknesses across the length, so failing to stagger shingles from one row to the next will leave you with bulges and bumps if the thicker sections stack on top of each other. Not only is this unappealing, but it increases the risk of water intrusion. Stagger each new row by 6 inches to avoid this issue.

Homeowners insurance typically covers roof repairs or replacement if the damage is caused by a sudden, accidental event or a covered peril, such as a storm, wind, hail, fire, or a falling tree. However, insurance will not cover repairs or replacement for issues stemming from a lack of maintenance, normal wear and tear, or a roof that is simply old and at the end of its lifespan. If a leak or damage occurs due to neglect, you will likely have to pay for repairs out of pocket.

Fall is generally considered the best time of year for roof repairs. The weather is temperate and typically drier, which makes for safer working conditions and fewer delays. The days are also still long enough to complete the work.

Spring is another good option and is a popular time for repairs to fix damage from winter storms. However, frequent rainfall can slow down progress. Spring may be a less busy season for roofers than fall.

Summer can also work for roof repairs, but extreme heat can make asphalt shingles too soft and difficult to work with.
