Since 1953 we have been providing St. Louis homeowners with plant knowledge and selection second to none. In addition to our garden center we have complete landscape design and build services, landscape maintenance and irrigation departments providing top care for properties around the St. Louis region.

"September 8, 2020, we entered into a $6,000+ contract for landscaping they said would be completed in October. The contract states 30% due upon signing (we paid $3,000) and 70% upon completion. When they didn't show, we called and after a several week run-around, we finally got some of our items planted late November. In February, Zach asked us to pay for the partial work done; still no date for the remainder of our work. An installation date of mid-April was given, so my husband paid another $1,900, in good faith (shame on him). At some point an installation date of mid April was then moved to mid May; same nonsense as last fall. Now, Zach and Mike will not call us. We have no recourse but to work with Visa to withdraw our payment. In addition, at least 2 of the trees planted late November appear dead and the rest don't look good. The trees, which are large, were not staked, except for one stake that the installer removed from our existing tree without asking permission. Don't trust their word, follow the contract and go somewhere else if you want the work done in a timely manner."

"About 30 trees were installed by them for about $4300 in 2020. This work was satisfactory except for some tree were uneven. After 5 month, one tree was damaged by Deer rub. I called to have them replace it at my cost. The original person M who was in charge of the original work stated that someone else is now in charge of smaller project and he will have J.C. contact me. A week goes by and no contact from J.C. so I contacted M again and he said he would contact him again. J.C. Calls and came out to give me an estimate. He quotes me $550 subject to tree cost ( I will have to pay the difference in tree cost if any from 7 month ago) He wanted to back his truck up to my back yard over my french drain. He assures me there would be no problem with the french drain. I call the landscaping company who did the french drain work and they inform me NOT to drive over the french drain. I let J.C know of this but no reply. After silence for about a week, I contact him for a final price ( as he said he would check the tree price difference if any) He texts me $650. I assumed the tree went up $100 and accepted the fact. I asked him to send me a final bid with break down of work ( as I originally received during the first work ) to my email so I can pay Pssiglia for the work. He replies ' thank you I will do by next week'. I wait about a week but nothing from J.C. I ask him what is the final price again and he texts me $650 without tree !. I told him we agreed on $650 with the tree. He texts me ' Yes you are right'. At this time, I am starting to question the entire process. I also informed J.C. again that he can't drive over the french drain. He then texts me ' give me $60 more' for not being able to drive over the french drain. I inform him that he can drive up to the top of my driveway which is only several feet difference and asked to agreed and proceed with $650. No replies from J.C. despite several attempts. In the meantime, I called Passiglia and asked how much for the cost of the tree. They quote me $109. I paid $99 for a tree before so I realize the difference is only $9. I start to question where the $100 increase came from and now the original $550 quote has increased to $710. I call M at Passiglia who referred me to J.C. and informed him that I can't get things moving with J.C. and have issues with J.C. M then tells me that J.C is not an employee of Passiglia but a Sub and that any work J.C. does is not warrantied by Passiglia and the price is set by J.C. I was stunned to hear this as I was led to believe that J.C. was an employee of Passiglia responsible for smaller jobs. Now I am starting to realize that I am not dealing with company who did the original work. I also informed M about J.C. wanting to drive over my French drain and he agreed that it is not a wise to do so. Despite the fact that Passiglia did a decent job on the first project, if a company doesn't provide after care, why use such an organization. A good company should back their work and help a customer in need. In this situation, I was only asking to replace one tree out of about 30 at my cost. In addition, using a sub who would recklessly want to drive over your french drain and keep rising the price is not good business. There are plenty of nursery's out there who cares about their customers and to help out an existing customer in need. Unfortunately, Passiglia is not one of them and I would not recommend using them for any work based on my experience."

A. Waldbart and Sons Nursery has carved out a solid niche in the Missouri/Illinois landscaping market because of their unique approach to trees: They grow their own. The company operates a 300-acre farm in Illinois. Trained horticulturists and nurserymen grow a full variety of both hardwood and ornamental trees, appropriate for the rigors of the local climate. Thousands of shade, ornamental, and evergreen trees are harvested yearly. The farm has a 3 to 7 year production cycle that allows the company to have mature trees available at all times. They are able to supply the highest quality trees that customers have come to expect. The nursery has grown from a small, one-family operation to a three-location business in two states, expanding to Illinois in 1980. In spite of the many changes that Missouri and Illinois have seen over those 130 years, the owners, managers, and employees have carried on the tradition started long ago: High quality plants, exemplary customer service, and friendly team-oriented employees.

"If I could give zero rating, I would. Highly disappointed with this company's service and would not recommend them for their trees. We purchased a new tree through the nursery which had a disease (and possibly a fungus). Tree started showing signs of an issue just beyond the 1-year warranty and company refused to offer anything in terms of a replacement. Very poor service, and would not recommend this nursery, especially when there are so many others out there. The owner clearly only cares about making a dollar and not customer satisfaction or repeat business. Buyer beware!"
