"Professional, Knowledgeable, and friendly. Great service for a reasonable rate! We had various projects including new vanity installation, bathroom remodel, and installation of new heavy mirror and lights. "Watowa Restoration completely transformed our basement from a dark, unfinished space into a bright, comfortable living area. From start to finish, their team was professional, reliable, and detail-oriented. They handled everything from framing, drywall, lighting, painting, and carpeting with precision and care. Communication was excellent throughout the entire process, and every step was explained clearly. The crew was always punctual, respectful of our home, and left the work area spotless each day. The finished space looks incredibly warm, clean, and inviting. You’d never believe it’s the same basement! I couldn’t be happier with the results and would absolutely recommend Watowa Restoration to anyone looking for high-quality workmanship and a trustworthy contractor."

"Dakota replaced some old and rotted deck boards for us. He was extremely responsive calling me back within minutes of my inquiry. His estimated cost for the work was on-target and fair. He advised me on how to order the deck boards from a local store and picked them up for me. Two days after meeting with him to go over the job he completed the work like he stated. I'd definitely recommend Dakota to neighbors and other people I know."

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

Cabinet Contractors questions, answered by experts

The Janka Hardness Scale rates wood species according to their hardness levels or density. On the scale, hickory ranks as the most dense hardwood that is common for use in making cabinets. While there are woods that are harder, they're uncommon in cabinetry. Maple, oak, and walnut also rank relatively high on the scale and are excellent for use in cabinetry.

The 1/3 rule is a design guideline used by interior designers and cabinet installers to select appropriately sized pulls for cabinets and drawers. The rule suggests that for a balanced and cohesive look, a cabinet pull should be approximately one-third the height of the cabinet door or one-third the width of the drawer face. This guideline helps create a symmetrical appearance because the human eye tends to follow the length of the pull across the cabinet face.

While the 1/3 rule is a helpful starting point, it is not the only option. If a measurement falls between available pull sizes, it's generally best to size up. For an ultra-contemporary aesthetic, you can also opt for full-width pulls that span the entire drawer.

The standard kitchen soffit begins at least 7 feet and 1 inch above the floor. In kitchens with very high ceilings, the soffit height may be taller. Consult your kitchen remodeling contractor about the best soffit dimensions for your kitchen to ensure high-quality and visually appealing results.

There’s no strict rule about which way cabinet doors should open, but generally, double cabinet doors should open away from each other. With single doors, you want to avoid having them block your path or swing into  areas where people need to stand. Some kitchens are angled so that cabinet doors may crash into something no matter which way they swing, but the methods above can help prevent damage.

A cabinet installer measures and designs cabinet units for homes and businesses, including determining how to hide large appliances in the kitchen. They then prepare the spaces and install either custom, semi-custom, or stock cabinets. These contractors may apply paint or stain, or they’ll hire a third party to perform these services.
