"My mom worked for a cleaning company years ago and knew the basics of what a housecleaning entailed. Anyway-the only really specific thing my mom requested was for the main bathroom to be really clean because our guests would be using it (obviously). Mary and 3 workers arrived on time, but she left to finish up another job after getting them started. We left too to finish some shopping, and asked them to close the door behind them when they were finished. When we came back my mom and I were both surprised at all the dirt we found. A few examples: the bathtub was not very clean, hardwood floors in the bedrooms appeared to be mopped without being swept first (leaving damp dirt & dustballs stuck to the floor), and the hardwood floors under the dining room table were still dirty, etc. Since I had paid for a deep cleaning, I expected the floors under my baby's high chair to be cleaned of dried food (just a few spots but it was very noticeable). It appeared as if they simply wiped the floors with a damp mop. I called David to share my concerns and Mary and the workers returned the next morning to correct the situation. I went through the house with her and showed her the things in almost every room that had been missed. I was thoroughly frustrated when Mary explained why one set of wood blinds in the family room hadn't been touched. She said that they were behind the TV and they don't move TV's. I totally understand that, but only about 1/8 of the blinds were actually behind the TV. There was a very large section they could've cleaned without any obstruction whatsoever, but they appeared to be using the TV as an excuse not to clean any of it. The TV itself is a huge projection big screen so there was no fear of knocking it over- just an excuse to not clean the window blinds. They did a fair job but only after returning the next morning to finish. I wonder if they cleaned poorly because my mom insisted on receiving the discount."

Blind Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Whether window film is better depends on individual preferences and specific needs. In some instances, window film can be much less costly to install. Aesthetics is also a deciding factor. Window film may have a more significant appeal for design minimalists looking for a clean and streamlined look without the heaviness that comes with curtains. On the flip side, they can also appeal to design maximalists looking for creative expression in the form of color, patterns, and texture. Choosing between window film and traditional window coverings depends on factors like desired functionality, aesthetics, and personal preferences.

Frequent dusting, gently removing spots, and checking operational cords or mechanisms ensure longevity and comfort in residential settings.

Clean glass regularly, inspect seals and frames, and address minor damage promptly to prevent further issues.

Your schedule for deep cleaning will depend on how often you clean regularly and how dirty your home gets. If you clean weekly and keep things tidy, you may only need to deep clean once a year. But if you don’t keep up with regular cleaning or have pets that drag in mud and shed all over the house, you might need deep cleaning two or three times a year.

Custom window treatments cost around $900 per window, and prices usually fall between $150 and $4,800. Your total will depend on many factors, including the type of window treatment, the amount and size of the windows, your home’s location, and the labor cost. Blinds and shutters tend to be the most affordable custom window treatments at $600 to $2,700, and the most expensive options are valances, drapes, curtains, and estate shutters, costing up to $3,000.
