The job was suppose to take 1 to 2 days and ended up taking a week. About 6 months after installation the ceiling started leaking(vaulted ceiling - no attic) and a section of it came down on top of the entertainment center. Contacted Lowe's and they sent someone out to inspect roof and said it was leaking due to damage to the chimney. They would not admit fault even though prior to the installation the insurance company?s inspection showed storm damage to the roof but no damage to the chimney. Had to pay someone else to repair the damage to the chimney and finish the flashing (1,150.00). They did not install all of the required flashing because they said, as roofers, it was not their job. After chimney repairs and finishing the flashing the roof still leaks. Have been trying to get this resolved for 18 months and Lowe's finally said they were finished out here and that we have a quality install with a quality product. Have had numerous people out here to inspect roof and have estimates from partial repairs (can't guarantee it will fix problem) to full tear off and replacement (the only sure way to resolve problems). Several installers told us there are shingles that are ripped and torn and that someone used silicone caulking to try and cover the tears. They also said we need several sheets of plywood replaced (we were told this during this install and I gave them the go ahead to charge us and install the plywood as that was not included in the contract) . The Hartford said they sympathize with us, but it is a really bad install and they don't get involved with a bad install that it is up to the homeowner to resolve. We have an estimate of 1,800.00 to repair the damage inside which does not include replacing the insulation as that can?t be determined until they take down the drywall on the ceiling. We are looking at between 8,100 to 10,000.00 to get our house back in pre Lowe?s condition. We are in our 60?s and are having trouble finding this kind of money. I have over a dozen pages of notes from phone calls, letters, calls not returned to even being accused of just wanting a new roof installed for free because it is almost 2 years old. I have pictures from the insurance company but not sure if this site allows pictures to be posted (don't know how if they do). <br /...
