"Door Adjust was great! We had them install a door from our house to our garage. They were on time and even helped me return the door I purchased (I purchased the wrong size) and get me the right size. I also had them weatherstrip my garage door ."

"Complete transformation of 3 rooms in our home! James is a real magician with drywall finishing! seriously! These spaces are better than ever! Very energetic and personable crew with the ability to do actual great work work. I can't say enough about the super communication of how each project was going to go and all the way until it was done. Very professional with tremendous attention to even the smallest details. Mr. Beckner made sure the finished product was up to his high standards before signing off. I would recommend hiring this company to anyone and he will be who we call in the future! What a blessing!"

"Very happy with our new windows and sliding door. The price was very reasonable, the installation went perfectly, and everything looks great! All of the employees I encountered were friendly and easy to deal with. No high pressure sales. Highly recommend this company, especially if you are looking to keep costs low. I plan to use them again."

Small jobs welcome

"We hired Tyler, from Cox Homes, to install tile on the ceiling and two walls in our master bath. He came in person to give us an estimate and offered suggestions for things about which we were uncertain. He did a great job of communicating with us! He showed up on time, covered our floors while he was working to protect them and cleaned up everything before leaving for the day. We could not be happier with the results and we will definitely be hiring Tyler again for future projects."

Doors questions, answered by experts

Yes, if you’re replacing a door slab, it must be the exact size of your existing door. If your new door is too small, you’ll need to purchase a new door to fit or hire a handyperson to make your frame smaller. Or if it's too big, you’ll need to return it or shave it down to fit.

You can’t gauge the lifetime of a fire door like you could, say, an engine. Fire doors should be checked at least once every six months to ensure there are no signs of degradation like leaks, holes, water damage, termite damage, or anything else that might compromise the functionality of the door’s fire resistance. Check your smoke detectors while you’re at it.

If your patio door is worn and outdated, replacing it could be well worth the money—especially if you plan to sell your home anytime soon. An updated patio door will catch the eye of potential buyers, while a dingy one with peeling paint will likely be off-putting. A new patio door can also improve your home’s security, lower energy costs, and decrease the noise from outside. Ultimately, your choice will come down to the current state of your patio door and your replacement budget.

Barn doors do not always require a bottom track, especially if a high-quality top track is used to stabilize the door. However, a bottom track is often recommended to ensure the door operates smoothly, prevent it from scratching the floor, and keep it from pushing inward or outward, which could cause damage. A bottom track also keeps the door more secure and properly anchored. In some cases, an interior barn door can hang solely from a top track without a bottom guide. If you do install a bottom track, it should be placed six to eight inches from the floor and be at least twice as wide as the door.

If you’re installing a pocket door into an existing door opening, the new space will need to be twice the width of the existing door, plus an inch. You'll need to double that number if you’re adding dual pocket doors.
