"Daniel with Mr. Sparky KC completed a big project requiring our home & moving our panel. Daniel was excellent in troubleshooting our unusual electrical system & bringing it up to maximum efficiency & safety. Scheduling for the project fit well into our schedule. Updating our system involved several unexpected complications, but Daniel persisted until each was corrected. I would highly recommend Mr. Sparky& particularly Daniel for your next electrical project."

Small jobs welcome

"The cabinet and cooktop had to be removed for them to access the wiring to install a three prong plug-in for my new slide in range. They tore the cabinet out, removed it from the kitchen, and after the electrical supply was secured they leveled the range properly and also carried out the non-functioning electric oven from the wall. They save me so much grief of finding someone who would demo the cabinets and Carrie the heavy oven out of the kitchen. I feel they went above and beyond to install my new stove. I will always use them for my electrical needs."

"Landis did an awesome job on a complicated project we had replacing knob and tube wiring in our house. Their team was clearly knowledgeable about the project, provided great advice, did it in a timely fashion with minimal damage done to our walls. They also were very reasonable priced compared to other bids we received. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing electrical work done."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

240V is the standard for more demanding appliances in the United States, whereas 220V is more common elsewhere. The voltage isn’t very different in any practical sense. The United States is a newer country compared to many other regions in the world with a faster adoption of new electrical needs. Appliances in the United States are often bigger than other parts of the world.

You should always turn off a breaker whenever electrical work is being done. This step can prevent electrical shock and injury. Also, if a breaker is repeatedly tripping, it can mean there is an electrical overload, and it should be shut off. You should contact an electrician to figure out the cause. Make sure to review how to turn off your circuit breaker safely if you do it yourself, and follow safety precautions to avoid severe injuries.

To upgrade electrical systems in older homes, you might need to reroute new wires with lath and plaster walls. That’s because it’s more challenging to get inside the walls of an older home compared to a modern home, which usually uses drywall. But there are easier ways to level up your electrical game in an older home. For instance, you can swap out an old furnace for a new electric heat pump, or you could use a heat pump for water heating.

The Occupational Safety and Home Administration (OSHA) requires an electrical panel to have a minimum of three feet (36 inches) of room from the front of the panel to the closest obstacle. In this case, the word obstacle refers to nearly everything, including walls, machines, and other fixed objects. Additionally, panels require at least 6½ feet of headroom in the area directly in front of the fixture. These requirements help ensure safe use of the panel and allow electricians plenty of room to work.

Running conduits through an exterior wall is an effective method for powering outdoor spaces. From gardens to sheds to garages and more, it can be important to have electricity outdoors. Using conduit, which safely covers wires outdoors, is an easy way to get power where homeowners need it.
