"I'm 100% satisfied. Lewis responded quickly to my request for flooring installer. He made his proposal very clear and offered a very competitive price which he did not change at the end of the project. Lewis worked in a precise manner and completed the work within the proposed timeframe. Lewis kept me informed during each phase of the project. He always gave me a heads-up as to his arrival. lunch break or when leaving for the day. Lastly, Lewis had a level of honesty and integrity that allowed me to feel comfortable while he was in my home. Yes I would recommend Sissi Construction; true representation of quality workmanship."

"This review is a long time coming, but it does give me perspective since we have been living with these changes for a while now.The first project was started in late 2013 and finished in  January 2014. It consisted of moving the laundry room to the second floor of our home. The master bedroom is adjoined to the fourth bedroom where we decided to enlarge that room's closet for our washer and dryer, closer to all our bedrooms. The original laundry room was converted to a pantry. The other part of this project was enlarging our master bedroom walk-in closet. It was very narrow and divided into two areas by a wall and door. Young Remodeling managed the project well and had excellent contractors. They provided excellent quality  workmanship in all aspects of the project including extending hardwood flooring into the pantry, tiling the new laundry room floor, installing bi-fold doors, refinishing the ceilings and painting the walls and trim, building the pantry shelves, rerouting electrical and water services to the new laundry location and more. Total cost was about $25,000.
The second project was the kitchen remodel. This project was suppose to start in August 2014, the cabinetry had been received and they were ready to start demolition when a medical issue arose that meant we had to postpone the project. Young was very gracious to hold our new cabinetry in storage until we could restart the project in April, 2015. We had a new kitchen by the end of May. The project consisted of a radically different layout. We worked with Young's designer to come up with a great plan. They provided lots of drawings and paid attention to details to optimize our new kitchen. All of the cabinets were replaced and Young installed all of our new appliances. They re-stained the hardwood floor that extends into our family room. They rewired the kitchen and moved the canned light fixtures to better meet the needs of the new layout and installed our new pendant light fixtures over our new island. They refinished our ceiling, painted and the trim and walls. They figured out the best way to vent the new cook top from it's new location. They installed the new granite counter tops, the new exterior door and a large window. In the family room, in addition to re-staining the hardwood floor, they painted the walls and trim, refinished the ceiling and replace our original wood mantle with a stone mantle. The quality of their work was again outstanding. Both Jenny in the office and Rex in the field were very easy to work with. Rex came back recently(September) and fixed a cabinet problem and converted our pantry shelves from adjustable to fixed, for heavier loading at no charge! Total cost was about $60,000. This did not include the new appliances, window, sink and faucet or pendant light fixtures.
So, now over a 1 1/2 years from the first project and 4 months since the kitchen remodel... we love it all and wouldn't change a thing! We are now working on a list of changes we want to make in other parts of or house and Young Remodeling will be our first choice.

"Jim came on a Friday to estimate the job. He said he could show up the next morning around 7 to do the work. I was impressed with how quickly he jumped at the job! On Saturday morning I rose from a deep sleep at quarter to 7 to get ready for Jim. Jim called around 7:45 stating he was on his way. He showed up around 9, however, explaining that he was delayed in having to help his wife with her car. Once here he worked hard and got the job done to our satisfaction. I thought the price was reasonable for the work performed."

"I’m so Happy I decided to hire Donohue’s. I just recently built my new and final home. During the building process I researched different company’s and decided that Donohue’s was the way to go. I had them install the lighting rods during my Home construction. I’ve always been afraid of taking a bolt of lighting ever since my grandmama was killed by a bolt of lightning wile she was in her House taking a bath at her farm house in upstate New York. Lighting has always mesmerized me but you must respect it’s power, it can be deadly and a house could burn to the ground and your loved ones could be trapped in the house and they could be burned alive. But not my house, no sir, because I hired Donohue’s Lighting Protection!! I will sleep well during the most fierce Storms for years to come knowing my family is safe from planet earths most destructive force."

"

Installed recessed lights in living room and bathroom. Installed 10 new LED bulbs and put in two cans and installed two new holes for 2 of the lights. I instructed them (many times) to install matching lights in both rooms. I specifically said I want all the lights to match (many times). They put the old rims on the new lights and the lights therefore do not match. They look just like they did before the new bulbs were installed and the new rims are covered up. Installed 4" lights in 6" cans so had to use the old rims to go around them. Installed living room lights in wrong spot and when I tried to convey to him I wanted them moved to a new spot, was told it would require ripping out a large section of the ceiling and it would be a real pain to do it. I did not feel as if my wants for this project were taken into consideration. The degree of difficulty was what made the decisions to change or not change work already performed. I was not offered a written estimate, but was told that he does offer them. I guess just not to me. Prices changed after work was done from time of estimate. Purchased supplies with money I provided but did not present receipts for materials. It is difficult to find a good handyman. Would not recommend for small jobs. I think the bigger the job the more attention to detail is given the work, due to the amount to be made from the job.

Chandelier Installation questions, answered by experts

Testing tools, such as Christmas light testers, non-contact proximity electrical testers, and multimeters, all simplify the process of testing Christmas lights. However, without one or more of those tools, testing Christmas lights the old-fashioned way only works sometimes. Without testing tools, the simplest testing method is visual inspection, which may or may not yield positive results.

In this category, homeowners provide materials. Some installers may offer advice on suitable options.

Yes! As a matter of fact, there are many sensors that add motion to existing outdoor lights. These motion sensors attach to pre-existing flood lights and other outdoor lights without any fussy and potentially dangerous electrical work. Additionally, some flood lights and related fixtures ship with motion sensors built-in.

For high ceilings, chandeliers and pendant lights are great choices. They offer a decorative focal point to the room, while also illuminating the space. Track lighting may also be a good option for high ceilings as it allows you to position the lights around the space for all-over illumination.

When hanging a chandelier, the distance from the ceiling depends on the room and height. For standard 8-9 foot ceilings, chandeliers in living areas or bedrooms should hang 7 feet from the floor. In dining rooms, the chandelier should be placed 30-34 inches above the table.

For higher or vaulted ceilings, adjust accordingly, ensuring the chandelier remains balanced and visually appealing. Aim for chandeliers in entryways to be 7 feet from the floor or adjust for high ceilings to make a grand statement. Always consider the room's function and the desired lighting effect to achieve the perfect placement.
