"Josh was super responsive before, during and after the project. He and his team were very efficient. They arrived on time and completed the job within the timeframe communicated to me. They got the job done quickly. I felt the price quoted was very reasonable. I anticipate hiring Tru Irrigation for an additional project next year. In summary, we couldn't be happier with the outcome of this project."

"Jo and Lee Allison are the owners of the company, and I found them via Angi. I was apprehensive in working with contractors before, but they changed my opinion. They were very attentive to my needs, not forcing anything at me. Listened carefully, and were very accommodating to help make the total project work right. Super friendly people that were nice to my wife and kids. They gave great value for reasonable price, and went above and beyond to ensure things I didn't even ask for were taken care of. Very competent in what they do, and I am happy with the two slabs they did for me of 13 yd3 in total. They also worked long days and even in the rain and at night to help make sure their work met the grade. I took care of the payment to the cement company and paid them separately, and it all worked out fine. I would definitely recommend them for their honesty, hard work, competency and good nature to take care of anyone with a home project."

Concrete Resurfacing questions, answered by experts

Whether resurfacing concrete is worth the cost depends on the condition of the underlying slab. Resurfacing can be a good option if the concrete is in decent condition with only minor issues like standard wear and tear, small cracks, chips, or discoloration. In these cases, resurfacing adds a protective layer that can extend the concrete's lifespan without the high cost of a full replacement.

However, if the concrete has significant damage—such as deep cracks, peeling, sinking, or is broken up—resurfacing may not be worth it. The new overlay is only as good as the concrete beneath it, and existing problems like peeling and cracks are likely to show through the new surface. In situations with severe damage, replacing the entire slab is often more cost-effective in the long run and will yield a better result.

To make the best decision, it's recommended to have a licensed concrete specialist inspect the damage and determine if resurfacing is the right choice for your situation.

Mix the resurfacer into a sticky mixture. The consistency should look like mashed potatoes. Use a squeegee to push the resurfacer across the pitted area and smoothen the surface with a cement trowel flush. Make sure you protect any expansion joints with a weather strip. Alternatively, cut out any resurfacer that touched the joint once the mixture begins to harden.

While certain kits make DIY possible, professionals ensure durability and quality of finish, which is vital for high-moisture areas like baths.

While you don’t technically need to grind concrete before resurfacing, it is very helpful. Grinding creates a rough, porous surface on the concrete, which gives the resurfacing material something to latch onto. Grinding your concrete before resurfacing can ensure that your resurfacing material lasts longer, reducing additional concrete resurfacing costs down the line.

Properly maintained, resurfacing typically lasts 5-10 years. Factors like surface usage and exposure to chemicals affect longevity.
