"Eric did a great job, our carpeting looks newly installed. Although he was running late, he called and gave us an updated time or the option to reschedule. We opted for the new time. He was very through inspecting the carpeting, vacuuming and cleaning. Due to the delay in his arrival he treated the carpeting at no additional cost. We will be calling Eric back out next year for the annual cleaning.

"Gary was great to work with. He brought samples of carpet to the initial appointment, and helped guide us in our selections. I spoke to several on his list of installers, trying to find one to fit our schedule. They all seemed professional and eager to help. The day of installation, the installers got a late start, and then got lost on the way to my house. That was the only snag. They worked swiftly to install, and the carpet looks great. I am very pleased with the whole experience."

"Mr Cleans charged me $20 per room for steam cleaning my carpets. My carpets had never been cleaned before and after 14 years of foot traffic, it was looking very, very dirty. After the carpet was steam cleaned and air dried, it looked terrific! I was so pleased with my carpets that I had Mr Cleans clean my basement duct work. I was charged $240 for that work. I have less dust now and vacuum less frequently than before I had the ducts cleaned. In total, I paid $300 for my carpets and duct work and feel it was worth every penny! The technician arrived on time, was very polite and clean-cut. He also answered all of my questions before performing the work. Overall, this was a very positive experience and I would not hesitate to use the services of Mr Cleans again."

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

You’ll know if your carpet is stretched enough if it lies completely flat and smooth across your floor. If you have ripples, wrinkled areas, or carpet piling up along the baseboards, these are telltale signs that your carpet is not fully stretched. Release the carpet from the tack strip along one wall and use a stretcher or knee kicker to stretch out the carpet before securing it again.

You can use a carpet patch to replace a single section of carpet. You’ll cut out the damaged section and then replace it with a caret patch. The patch should be the same color as the existing carpet. You can also hire a professional carpet repair company to get it done.

The life span of carpet in a home with children and animals depends on factors like the carpet material’s quality, how frequently you clean and maintain it, and the level of foot traffic. On average, carpets need to be replaced every five to 15 years. Signs of wear, matting, or persistent odors may indicate that it's time to contact a local flooring company to replace your carpet.

Pros use power stretchers that secure the carpet firmly in place.

Carpet stretching can be a worthwhile investment to increase the lifespan of your carpet and eliminate unsightly wrinkles, ridges, and ripples. For an older carpet that is in relatively good condition aside from some wrinkling or bubbling, restretching can make it look like new and extend its life by at least a couple of years. You should consider restretching when you notice looseness or other related issues.

However, it's important to note that stretching will not fix issues like stains, wear in the pile, or discoloration. Consider replacing the carpet instead if the repair cost is more than 50% of the price of a new one. Additionally, if your carpet is past its expected lifespan of five to 15 years, or if it has been stretched multiple times already, replacement is likely a better option.
