Dan and Danielle Randolph were able to see the vision that we had for our home and they gave creative input that made for a very unique set of custom cabinets! They operate with the utmost attention to detail--we are so pleased with the work they've done for us! Not only did they build the cabinets that we wanted, they also took on some "unfinished" projects that we needed for our new home--fixing a set of antique corbels that we wanted to use on our covered back porch, they also converted an antique fireplace mantel into a beautiful built-in book case that is in the center of our home. There are a few easy ways to locate a wall stud without a stud finder. First, try knocking on the wall with your knuckles. Most parts of the wall will sound hollow, but when you tap over a stud, it will sound more solid. Alternatively, since studs are spaced 16 or 24 inches apart, you can measure those distances from a corner of the room, which will always have a stud.

You shouldn’t leave drywall outside overnight, especially if you live in a wet or humid climate. The moisture from humidity, rain, or other elements can damage the drywall, making it weaker and susceptible to mold growth. Stash any extra drywall in a dry area away from the elements to protect it from moisture.

It is less expensive to install a drywall ceiling. Drop ceilings are generally more costly to install than drywall, but they're also easier to install. Drywall sheets are heavier than drop ceilings—weighing in at about 60 pounds each—so if you hire a pro, they may charge a little more for labor. You should also factor in paint costs for a drywall ceiling. The least expensive drywall ceiling option is the standard, smooth variety.

Whether you can reuse a drywall anchor or not depends on the type. Plastic expansion anchors and plastic self-drilling anchors, which expand once screwed into the wall, are single-use only. You can't straighten and reuse them after removing them from the wall.

Metal toggle bolts can be reused, provided you can successfully remove the toggle from behind the wall. Once you remove the bolt, the toggle often falls down and can be difficult to retrieve without removing the drywall.

There shouldn’t be any gaps between your walls and ceiling. These can be fixed with joint compound but that is only a fix, and it’s much better if your drywall fits correctly in the first place. Sometimes gaps can appear if your foundation shifts significantly but if this is the case, you have a much bigger problem than patching drywall.
