"My partner wanted to remodel our bathroom to accommodate our growing family. With Bath Planet, I was able to give her the best gift she could have ever asked for. Their workmanship and products are amazing and they managed to transform our bathroom into a brighter and more appealing space within our schedule and without us breaking the bank!"

"Replaced my doublehung windows and sliding glass door. Workers arrived ready to go and stayed until the job was done. The door is easy to use and the added safety of a 3point locking mechanism is a nice feature."

"I had 18 chairs, wooden, that were wobbly, some broken in need of repair. They were able to make them stable, repair the damage to the various legs that was missing. They were returned to the original state of purchase., cleaned & polished. One was broken part by grandkids and honestly I can’t tell which one it was. I highly recommend them."

Doors questions, answered by experts

Steel doors last the longest, sometimes upwards of 100 years. Fiberglass comes in second, with a lifespan of 70 years. Wood doors have the lowest lifespan, with some wood types only last 20 to 40 years.

A door sill is the horizontal part of the door frame at the bottom, while a door jamb consists of the vertical parts of the frame on either side. The door sill serves as a threshold, sealing the bottom of the door, while the door jamb provides structural support and houses the hinges and latch. Both are essential components of a door frame, with the door sill acting as a transition point and the door jamb providing stability and functionality.

Yes, if you’re replacing a door slab, it must be the exact size of your existing door. If your new door is too small, you’ll need to purchase a new door to fit or hire a handyperson to make your frame smaller. Or if it's too big, you’ll need to return it or shave it down to fit.

Instead of a bifold door, you might look into installing French doors, pocket doors, or sliding doors. Each has its own pros and cons. French doors offer the dual-door advantages that bifold doors do, and pocket doors are excellent space savers—though you’ll need to create a wall cavity to have them installed.

Start by checking the top or side edge of the door. Look for a certification label or metal tag stamped with details like the fire rating and information on the manufacturer. Even if it’s painted over, the tag should still be visible. Next, look along the edges for slim intumescent strips. They’re designed to swell up and seal gaps when exposed to heat. Finally, check if the door closes itself. Most fire doors have a self-closing mechanism, like an overhead closer or spring hinges. If none of these are obvious, contact a fire safety professional to help verify your door.
