"We absolutely could not be more happy with Chris and his crew from Cityscapes! They did LOTS of work: trimmed several large trees near our street, installed our new mailbox, completely redid our drainage on the sides and back of our house, removed a 20 foot shrub (including the huge stump), cleared out weeds and completely cleaned out and renewed our garden (leaving three redbuds and a rose bush), laid down mulch in that garden, cleared out brush in another corner of the yard, put down dirt, did rock edging on both gardens, seeded the lawns, put down weed preventer, and hauled all of the trash away. Later we talked about bug repelling plants we could add, and Chris spent a good amount of time giving recommendations, and we could not be more pleased with them! Not only great workers, but great people... we're sold!"

"I had a gigantic oak tree split near its canopy during a major storm and it had fallen into my neighbors house. I sent then a job request around 1130pm. Allan had a guy on his way to my house at 630am and called me on his way out because I listed the work as "emergency". He wanted to make sure if it was severe that they could get the tree down safely. He arrived at 720am and we negotiated the kind of work I was looking for. After an assessment, we agreed on price and he had a crew of guys out within an hour. The crew worked fast and even helped some of my neighbors around the street clean up the storm debris from their yard. They cut it down, chipped everything they could, and ground the stump. They had a guy come back a few times to see if they needed any additional help or other equipment and also to ask me if I was satisfied with the work so far. I was very satisfied with the job they had performed. Very quick, worked with me to make sure they did the job as I had envisioned, and even helped my neighbors without a second thought. Awesome group of people all around."

"Had the sidewalk broken and still waiting for that to be fixed. Had huge holes left in the yard, not just small indentations? No offer to fill and correct mistakes made by staff that cut too large of limb cuts to cause the damage even after sending pictures."

Brush Chipping questions, answered by experts

If you want to remove a bush that’s located on top of utility lines, you’ll need to call your local utility company to determine the best course of action. If you can’t dig out your stump its roots, cutting a bush off at ground level might be the best you can do. Adding a planter over top of the cut branch or planting something else around the stump can cover the area while the stump decomposes.

We always recommend wearing a protective mask when blowing leaves (as well as goggles if possible). Blowing leaves creates a lot of dust, and in many cases that dust contains a bunch of allergens that can make those sensitive very miserable. Even worse, moldy leaves can contain fungi and bacteria that could make humans as animals very sick. Mask up before starting your leaf project, and if anyone is helping you collect the leaves it’s a good idea if they wear a mask, too.

Leaf removal isn’t always necessary, and what you should do with leaves in your yard depends on the number of trees you have. Leaving a small amount of leaves to decompose on your property can add nutrients to the soil and help grass, plants, and trees thrive. However, large accumulations of leaves can promote mold and fungal growth, so you should do at least two fall cleanups if you have many trees on your property.

Trimming a rose bush is similar to cutting back your shrubs or other bushes.

First, you’ll start by removing old, damaged, or diseased branches from the base. Next, thin out the plant's interior by removing thin, weak branches. Finally, you’ll want to cut off buds where the leaves meet the stem.

Trim away using a 45-degree angle, as this will help with water runoff and promote new growth outward.

The growth of tall fescue grass often causes clumps of grass in your lawn. Avoid pulling up the clumps, as it won’t effectively remove them. Instead, dig out clumps and their roots when you notice them early in the growing season. Herbicides can also treat grass clumps, but they can also affect other plants you might not want to kill, so use them sparingly and always follow manufacturer instructions.
