"I live in a town home community, and 4 units (including mine) were experiencing the serious failure of a two-story exterior brick facade. It was becoming a dangerous situation and needed prompt attention. We met with several brick experts to diagnose the problem and discuss how to repair or replace the wall. Anderson Mason had neither the "cheapest" quote, nor was it the most expensive quote, but Mr. Anderson was the brick mason all of the neighbors trusted the most. We could immediately tell that he was very concerned about putting his name on quality craftsmanship and materials, and we are glad we hired him. When we told Mr. Anderson that we were hiring him, the neighbors were honestly a little concerned about paying half of the cost up-front, but Mr. Anderson explained the amount of materials that would need to be ordered for the project. We felt tremendously better about everything when he immediately demonstrated that he trusted us by putting significant time, labor, and costs into "shoring up" our wall to prevent a dangerous collapse before he received any money from us. Mr. Anderson saved us from an unexpected wall collapse, and he kept us informed on the status of the materials and timeline of the project. He and his team expertly dismantled the failing wall (without further damage anything), kept us informed on the status of the materials, and kept us informed in advance of when weather would affect the timeline for the project. They were able to build a brand new wall in the estimated timeline given upfront. Although no homeowner enjoys an emergency project like this, we all learned to appreciate Mr. Anderson and all of the team members he brought to work on our project. We felt we could trust all of the team with our house keys, and we knew if we left them to work all day, we would come home to see significant progress being made. They all took pride in doing quality work, and they also made us feel like part of their family. In the end, we ended up with a beautiful new brick wall that matches the other existing units as well as one could hope (considering the older walls are sixty-plus years old)--actually, our new wall looks so much better than the old walls on the neighboring units. I know that if I need brick work in the future, I have the name of someone I can call who will give me the straight story about what work needs to be done, but who will not try to sell me something I do not need. Anybody considering hiring Anderson Masonry should feel at ease knowing that they can do so without worrying about someone doing poor work or "running off" with the money. It is rare these days to find someone who cares deeply about their work and also cares about keeping their word to their customers. Mr. Anderson is one of these rare individuals. In my mind, we could not have done better than hiring Anderson Masonry. I, and all of my neighbors, are thankful that we found him."

"Billy and his team do amazing work! From the very beginning when we built our house, Billy has welcomed all questions (even having a meeting with us at his house), been a subject-matter expert, and has guided us to select the most amazing landscaping I have ever seen. His team works hard, in all weather, and are all extremely friendly. I have, and will continue, to absolutely recommend Billy and his team to anyone looking for any landscaping, no matter how big or small of a project!"

"My yard has never looked better, a friend recommended Imagine Restorations to me a few weeks ago, I called them and I find out that they are owned by a Dad and 2 sons, River and Ryan, who is can't brag on enough, super professional, on time and superb workmanship, they went over and beyond for us, we ended up going for a cedar picket shadow box fence, they even out bid a close friend of mine, they did all this in 2 days practically, the wood was delivered a day in a half late so they had to improvise, if you need a fence or need a fence repaired, call Ryan or River over at Imagine Restorations. RIVER- (816)598-7860 and RYAN (573)289-9721... you won't regret doing business with these guys."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Limewash can be removed from brick, but the method of removal will depend on how long the limewash has been on the brick. If the limewash has fully dried—which happens after about five days—you’ll need to use a diluted muriatic acid mixture to remove it. If there are multiple coats of limewash, you may need to apply the acid mixture several times to fully remove it from the brick.

Not all cracks in brick indicate foundation problems. For instance, small hairline cracks can occur as a new construction settles. However, larger cracks are often a sign of a more severe issue. Indicators of a potential foundation problem include long horizontal cracks, "stair-step" cracks, vertical cracks that appear indoors, or any crack that widens at the top. Other signs of structural damage to look for are uneven floors and doors or windows that stick. These issues could be caused by problems with the soil beneath the home or an overgrown tree.

Drilling into brick doesn’t have to be a dangerous project if you prep and approach it with the right tools and techniques, but it does come with risks if it’s not done correctly. It can lead to significant issues, such as damaging the brick or affecting the wall’s structural integrity. Applying too much force can crack or chip the brick, while incorrect placement might compromise its load-bearing strength.

Cobblestone is not a type of rock but a term for a mosaic or rock laid down as a surface. It used to be made from the closest available stone but now can be made from nearly any hard rock, as machining has made shaping the stone much easier and cheaper.

The difference between river rock and landscaping rocks is size, smoothness, and use. River rocks are smooth and flat, as if polished by water, and come in diameters between 1 and 8 inches. Landscape rock can vary in size from small pea gravel installations to car-sized boulders. However, landscaping and river rocks are interchangeable in many situations. River rock is best for pathways, walkways, garden bed mulch, water features, and planting accents, while small landscape rocks can serve as a walkway base, gravel playground areas, and filler between pavers.
