Yes, it is worth repairing concrete cracks. Concrete cracks are normal, and they can be hard to keep from appearing. However, it is worth repairing cracks in concrete for many reasons. For example, it’s possible to repair concrete to the point where the repair is almost invisible. Also, if the crack is left alone, it can become bigger and more expensive to fix over time.

Concrete overlay and concrete resurfacing are both concrete repair options. The terms are used interchangeably, and the meaning can vary from contractor to contractor. An overlay normally involves a thicker layer of new concrete over the old slab, which can last longer and add structural integrity to the old concrete. Resurfacing involves a thinner layer of concrete or resurfacing material and is for cosmetic upgrades only.

You have different options depending on the scale of repair needed. If you are repairing minor cracks that are between ¼ inch to 1.5 inch wide and less than half an inch deep, a self-leveling polyurethane sealant would be your best choice. Polyurethane sealants dry to the touch within one to two hours. Since they come in a tube applier, you also have the option to complete the repair without emptying out your garage.

You can use epoxy-based concrete fillers to repair small cracks and dents in the floor. For larger damages, remove any debris, then patch the cracks or holes with concrete repair products or resurface the entire floor. We recommend using fast-curing products that cure in four hours. You can also buy a pre-mixed concrete patch and leveler if you are only repairing parts of your floor.

The average cost to repair a concrete driveway is between $830 and $2,800, but your costs depend on the extent of the damage. For instance, raising or leveling concrete costs $3 to $25 per square foot, while resurfacing your driveway may cost $3 to $5 per square foot.
