We hold on to one very important word here at Schleifer’s WoodWorks LLC… Integrity. This company is built on it. When we started out on the idea of building “another construction company” we knew we had to be different. Together, Corey and his team have 30+ years in construction and a wealth of knowledge in over 20 trades and specialties. With all of our history living, working, and loving these Twin Cities, we needed to bring out the best in our fields. One of the biggest problems in construction today is the lack of attention to the customer… YOU! We take jobs one by one to ensure we get it done right, the first time. We pride ourselves on our experience and aim to bring “the craft” back to craftsmanship. Let’s get connected.

All work that I do for others I do to the standard of how I would do it in my house. I’m currently in the handicap remodeling industry where I do everything including a lot of painting.

"One structure in the form of a arbor with a gate completed our fence.
The other structure a small deck outside of the lower sliding glass doors, with a pergola added,
gives a quiet shady respite to the yard.
We also had Hal design and build a fountain feature added to the garden area itself.  Which gives a soft
and flowing water sound near the small deck.
The work overall is outstanding with a very finished look.  It was also accomplished as per estimate of
time and cost.  They were very considerate to make the work space neat and clean each day at finish
       time.

We would "highly" recommend these contractors to anyone wanting this type of excellent yard work done.

"We called Cady Handyman Services and a pleasant gentleman discussed our deck project.
Cady Handyman scheduled one of his service tech to come out the follow morning.
The tech arrived promptly at the scheduled time with a friendly ready to fix our problem attitude.
We have raised nails and screws on our deck that always seem to reappear during winter months.
These raised nails and screws made snow removal just horrible. The Cady tech recommened that we remove many of the bad loose fastners and replaced with a new non-corosive styles of screws.
After a complete walk through of our project we were extremely satified.

With our project completed we are now looking forward to the winter to come.

With our total satisfaction with Cady Handyman Services we have again committed to them for our up coming basement project

"I was extremely happy both times with the quality of the work as well as the durability of the paint products used. They communicated with me throughout the process and were professional, dependable and trustworthy. I would use them again and would not hesitate to recommend them to a friend. "Justin and his crew have been amazing to work with every step of the way. 0ur roof was damaged in a storm last summer and we put it off until this year to have it looked at. Justin was extremely responsive and timely in coming to look at it, met with the insurance agent on extremely short notice, and was highly knowledgeable in helping us to understand the insurance process. He and his project manager, Darrin, were always available to answer questions and help us with samples and decisions. While they helped us understand every step, we never felt pushed or talked down to. The communication both ways was always very quick and polite. The entire team that worked on our property was obviously very skilled and took pride in their work. They took extra steps and time to make sure that gardens and landscaping surrounding the house was carefully protected during the tear-off process. That being said, they did work very quickly! At the end of each day, they carefully cleaned up the work area. Based on our many interactions with JJ Home Services, we booked him for several other projects around the house (siding, bathroom remodel, door and window install). He has assembled a great team, and we really appreciate the working relationships we've seen that have been established with all of them."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Footings for ground-level decks need to be at least 12 inches deep, and some areas require them to be even deeper. A standard range for deck footings is anywhere from 12 to 48 inches. The minimum footing depth is determined by an area’s frost line and soil conditions. If you’re unsure how deep to install deck footings, check local building codes to find the minimum footing depth in your area.

Many people say the best composite decking is Trex, TimberTech, or Fiberon. These brands have formulated composite deck boards to withstand the elements and hold up over time. Each offers a range of product lines varying in durability, price, and appearance. Compare their different composite decking offers for cost, looks, and features before deciding on a product.

If you have wood decking, there are several common deck problems that you might encounter. For example, your natural wood boards may fade over time due to things like sunlight, weather, and debris. On top of that, some types of wood decking can rot, grow mold, and attract destructive pests—including termites, carpenter ants, and woodpeckers.

If you want to make a deck cleaner from products already in your home, there are various options. The most common is to use a gentle blend of 1 gallon of warm water and 2 tablespoons of ammonia-free dish soap. You can also mix water with distilled vinegar. Sprinkling on some baking soda can help to remove mold and mildew. You can add oxygen bleach (but never damaging chlorine bleach) to the water and ammonia-free dish soap solution for something a bit stronger.

Yes, deck pier blocks can be used as an alternative to traditional deck footings, especially for smaller or low-to-the-ground decks. Unlike poured concrete and buried post footings, deck blocks do not require digging or pouring. However, their use is dependent on local building codes. Some areas, particularly those prone to high winds, earthquakes, or hurricanes, may not permit the use of deck pier blocks. It is essential to consult your local building codes before choosing them for your deck project.
