"The owner went above and beyond with his service. Not only did the job look amazing, but his knowledge and passion is a driving force behind his work ethic. I have little knowledge about lawn maintenance, but the owner took time to explain information while answer several questions. One question he answered was how to repair grass due to dog urine. Not only was his insight helpful, my grass was repaired and look even better. I had several neighbors asked what I did, and told them what I did but who told me what to do. Several neighbors have elicited his service after the amazing work. I will definitely continue work with this company."

Lawns FAQs, answered by experts

It can be bad to leave a dead stump in the ground. A stump becomes a hefty piece of dead wood in time and eventually (especially with the help of rain) starts to rot. That makes it a locus point for diseases and pesky insects, as well as a bit of an eyesore. It’s best to remove a tree stump completely before it starts to decay, especially before it starts to fall apart. If the tree was removed because of disease, it’s even more important to fully remove the stump if possible.

No. Unfortunately, leaf removal is your responsibility, no matter what tree the leaves come from. It would be pretty hard to regulate leaves since they can be moved by the wind or water. Imagine the detective skills it would take to determine which tree each leaf came from and who was then liable for removing it. Instead, plan to remove any leaves on your property.

Always begin by removing large debris, leaves, and branches from your lawn to make room for the rest of your lawn maintenance checklist. Move on to mowing, weeding, and edging in the spaces between your lawn and garden. Lastly, clean off all hardscapes, porches, and patios for a fresh and tidy appearance.

The fastest way to rid your yard of pesky stickers or burs is to go mechanical on them with a lawn mower or garden rake. Use a lawnmower with a bagger attachment to avoid spreading the seeds around and causing a bigger issue. If you choose to rake the stickers off the plants, be sure to dispose of them properly. Avoid putting them in with the composting and check local guidelines for disposing of lawn waste.

The best way to landscape your front yard on a budget is to invest in hiring a professional for hardscaping—things like upgrading walkways, redoing driveways, and installing partitions around garden beds. You can often do the softscaping yourself—think laying down mulch, caring for your lawn, removing weeds, and planting flowers and shrubs. It’s also almost always worthwhile to pay a professional for routine yard maintenance, as this dramatically improves curb appeal and delivers above 100% ROI in most cases.
