"Shelton Painting did a great job! The estimate was accurate, the work was done quickly, the workers were prompt and the area in question was kept clean. The end result smells and looks like a new basement!"

"Leo and his team did a fantastic job! My boyfriend, neighbors and I were so impressed by how meticulous they were power washing my fence and staining it. The workers were very friendly as well! Even my neighbors mentioned how polite they were."

"Lane the owner and his team are exceptional -- prompt, thorough, conscientious, and professional. I've had several friends and relatives hire Eclipse to paint their homes, all of whom have been extremely satisfied with the company's outstanding work, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. This painting company is about than just painting your house - it's about the prep work that will make the job last, as well as the attention to detail that makes the finished product look spectacular. Our Craftsman-style 1916 stucco home and expansive cedar deck have never looked better. 5 Stars! Highly Recommended!"

"We had Hadley’s Paint repaint our entire interior because construction grade paint isn’t compatible with a basset hound. Todd did an absolutely amazing job and I love our washable walls!! 10/10 highly recommended!"

"Jamie gave us a couple options and we went with the pressure washing. He also came back and sanded areas that he did not charge us for. We had some issues with weather as far as getting it stained but he kept in touch with us and now the deck looks awesome. He did a great job at a very fair price and would highly recommend him."

The paint was in pretty rough shape.
The polyurethane has darkened over the years. You can see where pictures were hung.
Quite a bit of scraping on the lower portions of the porch trim.
Fence is in good shape, but heavily greyed by the sun

Customers say: Super punctual

"We have an old, 1923, tiny "Model T" garage that's beat up but still structurally intact. A lot of people would tear it down but I like the small size and that it matches our house in design and materials. It had never been seriously stripped or painted since it was built but had half-assed coats of paint laid over the original peeling paint job with only cursory scraping. As a result, paint was flaking off it and into adjacent soils and walkways. Since my wife and I garden near the garage, we wanted the old paint completely removed from the garage (onto tarps where it could be properly disposed of), everything sanded down to the wood, repairs made, and the whole thing repainted. I used to work as a painting contractor (long ago). Back in the day, we heat-stripped paint off with heat-plates, sanded the clapboards and other surfaces (all while wearing respirators), filled cracks and sunk nail-heads, caulked, primed and painted. I personally stripped and sanded one side of the garage to show Bella Casa what I wanted. They were good communicators and managed to get us in just before freezing weather hit. Their carpenter was very good and very reasonably priced (about $700 of the total charge). He did all the aforementioned repairs to my satisfaction. Their stripping method, however, was insane. They had 4 guys manually pound away on the garage for multiple days with scrapper/hammers to manually knock the paint off onto tarps. They were neat about paint disposal but their method, put lots of tiny dents in the clapboards and the sanding job they did afterwards was very cursory, as was the job of filling cracks, sinking nail-heads and caulking. As a result, the side I stripped and sanded myself is the nicest one. I am told that heat-plates are no longer allowed by contractors in Minnesota ...but they could have used a modern plane/stripper motorized device and saved many days of labor. In retrospect, the owner warned me of the method he would use ...but, of the 3 angie's list contractors I had look at the job, Bella Casa was the only one who was willing to do complete stripping/paint-removal and they had high ratings, so I just sort of assumed they knew what they were doing. They didn't. I'd say my experience with Angie's list has been that you can find someone who isn't terrible or corrupt to do construction/building/painting work but many real artisans or super-skilled practitioners of home building and maintenance are often better found through word-of-mouth. I've seen much better paint removal, prep and repainting jobs in my neighborhood and (when I worked in the business in Boston) the company I worked for did much better work. Bella Casa is honest, friendly and definitely put in the hours ...but the method was a little crazy and the results were somewhat mediocre.

"Revel power-washed our entire house, painted all the exterior trim and garage doors, and stained our deck, all in under two days. All surfaces were scraped and prepped before painting. They even matched the color of our siding when buying paint for the garage doors. Crew members were very friendly and professional. Highly recommended!"

"I had them paint the front of the house and stain our deck (800 SF) this fall and plan to hire them to paint the rest of the house next Spring. They responded quickly to my request for a bid. The bid was competitive and transparent. They got the work done in the time period we discussed. They did nice work and cleaned up each day. My only comment is the work van does not inspire confidence but the owners are frugal and conscientious. :0)))."

"We HIGHLY recommend Aaron and his awesome crew. Not only are they all great to work with, the work they performed (house, deck and trim paint) is impeccable. What tiny problems there were (the fault of the previous paint) they immediately fixed. We were out of town for a portion of the job, and our neighbors still talk about how pleasant and meticulous the crew was. I would hire Prime Painting Concepts for all our painting needs!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

For the longest-lasting exterior paint, consider acrylic or enamel (oil-based) paints. Acrylic paints, including acrylic latex and acrylic enamel, are known for withstanding harsh weather and sun exposure. Enamel-based paints are also one of the most durable options available. While latex paint is common, it typically has a shorter lifespan than acrylic or oil-based options. The paint's finish also affects its durability; a higher gloss finish is generally more durable. For resistance to moisture and cracking, matte and satin finishes can be effective, while a high-gloss acrylic or oil-based paint offers a combination of maximum longevity and durability.

The staining or painting process involves cleaning the deck, sanding surfaces, applying a primer (if needed), and carefully applying stain or paint for an even, lasting finish.

The best temperature to paint a pool deck is between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit, because many paints and sealers require temperatures warm enough for the chemical reaction to take place for proper curing. The paint should not be allowed to freeze, and temperatures above 90 degrees can cause the paint to dry too quickly, also preventing the chemical reaction from following through to completion.

For homes in areas with extreme weather, high heat, or intense sun exposure, high-quality acrylic paint is the best option. Acrylic paint is durable, resistant to both heat and cold, and provides a protective barrier with excellent UV resistance. For best results, look for acrylics that contain natural earth pigments, which are better suited for resisting sun damage. While oil-based paint is also durable, it can be prone to fading in high heat and can become too viscous to apply easily in cold temperatures. Additionally, choosing a neutral or light color like gray, beige, or white can help, as these colors absorb less heat than darker shades.

You can use latex or acrylic paint outdoors. Although acrylic paint tends to last longer outside, it also costs more, so if you’re painting the outside of your house, for instance, latex paint is often a go-to option. However, acrylic will be your best choice if you want to spend some extra money for added durability.
