Regular lawn care keeps snakes away because it eliminates common hiding places. You can deter snakes by trimming grass, shrubs, and trees and removing weeds from your lawn and gardens. Clear away leaves and other debris that could serve as a potential snake habitat. You can also seal entry points around building perimeters and install metal snake fencing.

It’s very uncommon for roaches to bite humans. Cockroaches don’t need humans for food and prefer to be elsewhere than on a living being. They have no poison or powerful pincers to cause any significant damage. However, in very bad infestations cockroaches have been known to search humans for dead skin cells, which leads to them nibbling around feet, hands, and eyelashes. They don’t cause any serious harm, but this is an easy way to spread the diseases cockroaches carry.

Make it easier for your inspector to do a thorough assessment by preparing your home ahead of time. That includes:

• Noting any signs of pests around the home

• Removing obstacles in the way of the attic, basement, plumbing, garbage, and other key areas that inspectors will need to access

• Keeping children and pets away from inspection areas

While water bugs are considered generally harmless to humans, they can bite humans if threatened. Cockroaches are often incorrectly mistaken for water bugs. In this case, cockroaches can bite but are unlikely to bite humans. 

Water bug bites can be very painful and cause symptoms such as redness, swelling, and allergic reaction. Bites will usually heal on their own. However, if you experience severe symptoms or an allergic reaction, seek medical help immediately.
