Interior painters in Minneapolis

"The service I received was very poor. The young man who came to my home representing Angi was very inexperienced. #1-The first mistake was him attempting to install a towel rack and towel ring in my bathroom, and he installed the towel rack and it was not leveled. I told him and he asked me if I had a leveler because he had forgotten his. I got him mine and the rack isn’t installed correctly. #2-He went to install another towel rack in my master bathroom and then I heard the bathroom door close, went to ask if everything was okay, and he told me he was using our bathroom. Very unprofessional. He didn’t even ask if he could use it. #3-The towel rack he installed in the master bathroom came out of the wall (pic included) #4-He went to install a light in our master bedroom and didn’t check the electrical connection, so didn’t install the light correctly, so we had to take the lightbulbs out because the light won’t shut on/off with the switch. #5-He went to install a new light fixture for our front door and when I checked it, he had lost two parts-a screw and also a finial. He told me he was sure they were in his backpack somewhere and that he would look for them. My only solution now is to uninstall the fixture myself , and take it back to Menard’s to let them know parts are missing. #6-He left a mess everywhere, didn’t clean up the boxes, didn’t pick up after himself and left a mess in the master bathroom of residue from drilling on our bathroom carpet. #7-When he arrived he didn’t have the appropriate materials to do all the jobs I had requested on Angi I’ve been using Angi for years and have never had such poor service. I could have done the work myself, but didn’t want to spend the time, so I thought hiring someone from Angi’s would be the solution, but instead have been left with more problems and no solutions. It’s very disappointing and I will not be having this young man back, and will not pay for services that weren’t completed and parts lost."

FAQs for interior painting projects in Minneapolis, MN

When you’re considering hiring a painter, a quote should include the following items:

  • Overall price

  • Price for each area (e.g., living room, master bedroom) or item (e.g., trim, doors)

  • Cost of labor

  • Cost of materials

  • Description of prep

  • Description of repairs to be made

  • Description and details of paint application (number of coats, brand and type of paint, etc.)

You may need to provide your own paint, depending on the agreement you make with the painter. Some painters prefer that you buy the paint and they supply the labor. However, some professional painters get a better price on paint and can pass that savings along to you even after accounting for labor costs.

The average cost to paint a ceiling ranges from $3 to $8.50 per square foot, which is about $1 to $2.50 more per square foot than the cost to paint the walls. Rooms with high ceilings require working from a ladder or scaffolding and often include trim or detail work, which adds to the final price.

Professional painters charge $20 to $50 per hour, on average. Hourly rate cost factors include the complexity of the paint job, the type of paint, the height of the walls and ceiling, and the type of prep and repairs needed. For example, removing wallpaper costs an additional $3 per square foot because it can be very time consuming and labor intensive. Your location will also impact the hour rate.

To estimate the cost to paint interior walls, multiply the square footage by the average price range to paint interior walls, which is $2 to $6 per square foot. For example, a 12-by-12-foot room with 8-foot tall walls is 384 square feet, meaning that the cost to paint the room will range from $768 to $2,304. Painting the ceiling and any trim will add to the overall cost, as will any repairs.
