"I have hired Jesse for several jobs over past couple years, hes always on time, friendly and honest about the work needing to be done to get the result I want, as well as being knowledgeable about possible hidden costs that may come up over the course of a project. I had gotten cheaper bids on some of the earlier projects but I learned a few years ago you get what you pay for and any issues or concerns I had on a project with Jesse he was quick to address them to my satisfaction. He's the first call I make for projects."

We are a Minnesota corporation doing business since 1999. We have had up to 8 employees and presently have 2. As an alternative to employees, we subcontract labor. This is to our advantage because we all want to protect our reputation. We are a small business so regretfully we cannot finance customer projects. We ask for a retainer to bind the contract and spell out terms at that time. Typically an invoice is due on receipt and payable within 15 days or interest will be incurred from that time. Our specialty is in commercial mall "build outs" such as fast food restaurants and food court spaces. We are very attentive to detail and deal with the public well. We operate a Christian influenced business based on honesty and integrity. Thank you for consideration.

Minnesota residential building contractor licensed Madsen Concrete Services LLC is owned and operated by Thomas Madsen. Tom is certified in the American Concrete Institute as a master finisher. Being owner operated, the entire process will be overseen by Tom personally, from estimating through the final billing. Tom will be the primary person doing all the work for each project and you will never be dealing with any sub-contractors. Tom takes great pride in his work and believes in honest and fair pricing. Tom will spend time with the customer to make sure he understands all their requirements and that the right materials are chosen for a quality and lasting product. Madsen Concrete Services requires 50% of the total down at the start of the job and the remaining balance after all work has been completed. Included with an estimate will be an information packet that that will cover the project process and the maintenance of your new concrete.

"Highly recommend Madsen Concrete. Tom did our driveway 4 years ago. Since then, it has stayed in great shape. We just reached the date for our 4-5 year resurfacing. We are usually DIYers but with such a visible part of our home we wanted professional service and product. We called Tom back up and he was again easy to work with, great at communicating, and friendly. We will be giving him a call again in another 4-5 years."

Concrete Driveways questions, answered by experts

Whether or not you need reinforcements for your concrete slab depends on the thickness, what you’ll use the slab for, and the climate and soil conditions in your area. Adding reinforcements increases the strength and durability of your concrete slab, so it’s ideal for load-bearing slabs like driveways and home foundations. It can also help reduce the risk of cracking in extreme climates and areas that see excessive soil movement. Speak with your professional to determine if your project requires reinforcement.

A fence post set in concrete lasts anywhere from five to over 25 years, depending on how well the concrete was applied and the fence post’s material. Untreated wood posts in concrete could last less than 10 years, but a durable, treated wood set in properly applied concrete could last a few decades. However, all fence posts will wear out eventually, so expect to need to replace your fence post every five to 15 years.

Yes, fence posts should be set in concrete to provide the proper support for the fence. If you notice your fence posts leaning, you’ll need to learn how to brace a fence post to fix the problem and prevent further damage from occurring. By bracing a fence post properly, you’ll provide stability and sturdiness to your fence for years to come.

A well-built and well-maintained concrete pool should last anywhere from 50 to 75 years. Concrete is prone to cracking, so winterization and regular pool repairs are particularly important. Water can seep into existing cracks, freeze, and make them worse. Most homeowners should resurface their concrete every few years to maintain their pool’s lifespan.

Yes, you can pour new concrete over old concrete, but you need to apply a concrete bonding agent to the existing concrete to ensure the new concrete sticks. Keep in mind that even with a bonding agent, large cracks and other flaws will still come through. If the concrete has heaved, settled, or cracked, pouring new concrete on top won’t address any root structural problems. Removing the existing concrete and rebuilding will be your best solution in that case.
