"Alec did a great job servicing our furnace by removing and cleaning the blower wheel. He was very clear in explaining the process and answered all our questions."

Customers say: Quality work

"I'm not a big fan of Contractors working in my home and taking long phone calls when on the clock working for me. I do feel that three Contractors working at the same time should have been able to install two ceiling fans, install one outlet, and switch a light when all are existing fixtures. I was not comfortable with that as it took two hours when it shouldn't have. Thanks."

"Very efficient and so polite!! Let me know ahead of time the cost. Got right to work and finished project in a very timely manner. Wasn't scheduled for a couple of days but an opening came up and they were able to get ceiling fan installed before next heat wave. Will use their services again when needed!!!!!!!"

Small jobs welcome

"Alfredo installed our new Hunter ceiling fan with light kit perfectly. Other Angi contractors we were offered, were only looking to up sell and charged just to get an estimate. They were more like dealing with a corporation than an Electrician. Silver Claw Electric is professional, courteous, reasonably priced, and delightful to have do the job. We would highly recommend Alfredo, who is building a great reputation for himself. Don't even bother with the others!"

"After working with Randy and Chris to procure an estimate, which was very thoroughly worked through by them (they requested architectural drawings and photos of the house), they gave two optional installation locations. I was surprised at the details they were able to glean about the installation by researching local and public records about our place. It made the whole process that much more precise and accurate for them to be able to give the estimate. About 6 weeks later they arranged to do the installation, for which Josh and Tony showed up on time. They went through the installation with me and were very knowledgeable about my options and how to ensure my requirements were met. While the installation did not end up in the location I desired, the work they did was very professional, very well done. It was very much a quality install. They even discovered that my sump pump switch was out and let me know that this was the case. In about 3-4 hours later, the installation was completed and they left. There was no clean up needed to be done as they had cleaned up after themselves (what a breath of fresh air that was). Post support was excellent as well. I had to call Randy to ask a couple of questions and he was professional and quick to answer any questions I had. I also had to replace the sump pump plug gasket and asked if I could get another one. He immediately sent it out. The pipe can only be seen in the garage and otherwise it is completely hidden from view. I would highly recommend using Radon Removal again if needed. Our radon levels have gone from 7.5 down to 1.3. Very happy with the outcome."
When possible, the pipe is run to the garage, and the fan is in the garage attic.
When there is no way to get the pipe through the interior of the building, the fan and pipe will be outside.

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Keeping dust off fans can keep them working optimally and help keep dust mites or bacteria from building up. Dust fans weekly with a duster, microfiber cloth, old pillowcase, or vacuum attachment. You can also try spraying a clean fan with a store-bought dust-repellent product or making a DIY dust-repellent with water and a small amount of liquid fabric softener mixed in.

The more surface area that a ceiling fan blade has, the more effective it will be at producing airflow. Therefore, a longer ceiling fan blade is the better option if you’re looking for more wind. However, a longer blade will consume more energy than a shorter blade.

Yes, you can install a ceiling fan where a standard light fixture is, as the electrical wiring is often similar and may not need to be replaced. The most important step is to ensure the ceiling can support the fan's weight and motion. You will need to replace the existing light fixture's electrical box with a fan-rated electrical box, which is specifically designed to handle the extra weight and vibration. These boxes will be labeled as suitable for ceiling fan support and will indicate the maximum weight they can hold. Before you begin, also consider if you need an extension rod for a high ceiling or a special mount for an angled ceiling.

The direction your ceiling fan spins helps create comfortable airflow in your home and can also help cut down on energy costs.

During summer, your ceiling fan should spin counterclockwise. This will push cooler air downward in a column and help lower your room’s air temperature. In the winter, set your ceiling fan to spin clockwise and at the lowest speed setting. This will pull cool air upwards, displacing the warm air that pools towards the top of your ceiling and bringing it down towards the floor.

Yes, ceiling fans come with a few other features that help with function, style, and convenience. Multi-speed fans can give you specialized control over the airflow. Consider getting one with an integrated light to save ceiling space. Some ceiling fans come with a remote control that enables you to change direction without climbing a ladder. Of course, you can also consider installing a wall switch to enjoy that convenience.
