Customers say: Quick response

"Several electricians turned down the job because it was too small but Adam jumped at the chance and did a thorough job. He was running late so he had another electrician show up on time to start the job. I ended up getting two electricians for the price of one. Adam is definitely on our go-to list for electrical issues."

Hero Plumbing, Heating & Cooling has been a family tradition for over 100 years. In 1914, Harry C. Ridler started the company in South Minneapolis which led to the company name Uptown. Pete Savage worked for the Ridler family in the 1970s, and in 1982 Pete had the incredible opportunity to purchase it. In 2010, using the money they saved while Josh was in Iraq as a down payment, Sheree and Josh took out an SBA loan and purchased Hero Plumbing, Heating & Cooling from Josh’s father. At that time, Hero had 4 employees and focused on serving Minneapolis. Today, Hero has over 150 amazing men and women working with us and we’ve expanded our service area to cover the entire Twin Cities metro.

Electrical questions, answered by experts

New homeowners in Lakeville should begin with a thorough electrical panel inspection and ensure GFCI protection in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor areas. Update smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to meet state requirements, and check the grounding system, especially in older properties. Consider adding whole-house surge protection, extra outlets, and weather-resistant outdoor fixtures. Upgrading to LED lighting and installing programmable thermostats can improve energy efficiency for Lakeville’s climate.

Helpful?

Before starting electrical work in Lakeville, secure all necessary permits and schedule inspections early. Obtain multiple quotes from local contractors, verify their insurance and references, and review warranty details. Plan major projects for milder months to minimize weather-related delays, and document your current electrical system. Preparing for temporary power interruptions and keeping organized records will help your project proceed smoothly.

Helpful?

Lakeville residents can choose from several types of electrical contractors, including those specializing in residential wiring, smart home upgrades, and emergency repairs. Some contractors focus on solar panel installation, electric vehicle charging stations, or pool and spa electrical systems. Many serve Lakeville neighborhoods specifically, offering tailored expertise for local homes and businesses, while others cover the broader Twin Cities region.

Helpful?

In Lakeville, regular electrical maintenance is essential due to seasonal temperature swings and local code requirements. Schedule annual electrical panel inspections, test GFCI outlets quarterly, and weatherproof outdoor fixtures before the first freeze. Don’t overlook generator servicing, inspecting heating system wiring, and testing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors as required by state law. These steps help ensure your home’s electrical system remains safe and reliable year-round.

Helpful?

Hidden costs in Lakeville electrical projects often include permit and inspection fees, code upgrades for older homes, and repairs to walls or ceilings after wiring work. Winter projects may require temporary heating or snow removal. Homes built before 1980 might need asbestos or lead paint remediation. Always anticipate potential re-inspection fees and restoration work, especially when dealing with underground wiring or exterior electrical improvements.
