"Ben Lindow installed two exterior doors recently in my 1927 home. It was a difficult and complicated job, as the house had non-standard sizes for things and has shifted and moved as all old homes do, but Ben patiently worked it all out, and now we have two beautiful, well-fitted, secure and weatherproof doors on our home. I could not be more grateful. Definitely would recommend his work, and he's a nice guy, too."

I have been doing automotive and small engine repairs for friends and family for years, and it has become frequent enough that I decided I need to stop doing it for free! I am not a certified mechanic, but have learned a lot over the years and have successfully done many part replacements and repairs such as alternators, starters, exhaust, power steering pumps, blower motors, brakes, oil changes (any fluid change/flush), headlights, radiators, pulleys, belts, plugs, etc. Any job that is over my head, I would not accept, and will never take a job I am not comfortable with nor knowledgeable on. I have a professional mechanic I use for the specialty/harder/bigger repairs. That being said, I'm just a guy in a garage full of tools that enjoys working with my hands, and am guaranteed to be way more affordable than taking your vehicle (or lawn mower, snow blower, etc) to a shop.

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

Calcium lumps in a pool are calcium deposits that form when a pool's water parameters are not in the normal range. They can float around on the surface of the pool water, making it look and feel dirty. The most common causes of calcium lumps in pools are calcium hardness above 1,000 ppm, alkalinity over 120, and a pH over 7.8. Keeping your pool’s calcium levels, alkalinity, and pH levels within the normal, safe ranges is the best way to prevent calcium lumps and other problems, including damage to the pool surface.

Permits are generally required to build an in-ground swimming pool. These permits cover aspects like zoning, safety fencing, and electrical work. Obtaining the correct permits involves coordination with local building authorities.

It’s not ideal to swim in a cloud pool, as it can be a sign of algae, bacteria, or calcium buildup as well as chlorine, pH, or alkalinity imbalances. It is best to avoid cloudy water in pools until you determine the cause of the color change.

Pool leak detection dye is a great way to test specific areas of your pool for unbalanced water flow. By releasing the dye close to possible trouble areas—like around the seal of the skimmer—you can narrow down the potential crack. However, it's best to call a professional pool repair team near you if an initial patch does not keep your water level from lowering.

Yes. A pool pH too high may result in a rash, red, or stinging eyes for swimmers. It means chlorine isn't as abundant as it needs to be to neutralize germs. A pH that is too low means the water is too acidic, which can cause similar bodily irritation and damage to your pool's lining and the surrounding plaster, stone, or tile.
