Requested the customer to provide towels or something to cover the bottom of old water heater, mentioning the carpet will be dirty without it. 2. Had difficuties to ignite the starter/new water heater. Broke a gas nozzle part of the ignite by drilling. Even broken, put the part into the water heater. Somehow, the starter worked. 3. Paid $1,000 for installation of water heater. Requested the receipt but they said it will be avaiable after 3 weeks (will be updated). 4. Broken part will be replaced by other service provider,"

Bathtub Restoration questions, answered by experts

When it comes to cleaning bathrooms, bleach usually comes to mind. But like ammonia, bleach can damage acrylic tubs. In fact, many tub manufacturers warn against using bleach on acrylic bathtubs, and doing so could void the warranty on your tub. Again, a gentler cleaner specifically made for acrylic tubs, or one of the homemade methods listed above, is your better bet here.

Rust in your bathtub occurs when iron in the water or on metal components in your tub are exposed to oxygen, but while it’s unsightly, it won’t make bathing dangerous. However, if the rust appears under or around your tub spout or shower head, it could indicate that you have high levels of iron in your water. Drinking water with small amounts of iron in it usually doesn’t pose a health risk, but you might want to consider installing a water softener. The presence of iron could indicate that you have hard water, which can create some plumbing issues.

Bathtub refinishing costs an average of $460 and includes removing the finish, sanding or acid etching the surface, priming it, and applying an epoxy coating. After the coating cures, the bathtub should look as good as new, and the finish should last between seven and 10 years. There are a few ways to check whether your tub is fiberglass or acrylic. If your tub is a color other than white, then your tub is likely acrylic (as fiberglass tubs are usually white). Check to see if there is discoloration on the bottom of the tub, because if it’s yellowed, then you can be fairly sure it’s fiberglass.

Also, fiberglass tubs have thinner edges and are cool to the touch. Acrylic, on the other hand, is either room temperature or warm to the touch.

You can fix hairline cracks and larger stress cracks with a plastic tub crack repair kit from a home improvement store. You'll need to clean out the tub, apply either the epoxy resin or filler putty compound into the crack, let it dry, and then sand it out.
