We can also do general remodeling projects and assist with design and material selection. Mario, owner, does all bids and is on site for all projects. Tile flooring will last anywhere from 10 to 20 years and even up to 30 years or more with proper care and maintenance. 

You can help your tile floor achieve a longer lifespan by maintaining it properly. This includes cleaning it regularly (including cleaning the tile floor grout), keeping the floor dry, and not setting super heavy items on it to keep it from cracking. You'll also want to regrout your tile floor every 10 years. Using a grout sealer will help your floor last longer.

A subfloor will often last for the life of the house—somewhere between 50 and 100 years—if it avoids water damage, mold, termites, and other things that can cause it to age faster. If a subfloor sees continued exposure to moisture, it can warp, grow mold, or rot and last a much shorter time.

Plywood is the best type of subfloor for a mobile home, though if you’re installing flooring in a bathroom, you may want to install a vapor barrier or use a moisture-proof subfloor material like Amdry. OBS is similar, but it can swell when moisture is present. 

Either way, old mobile home subflooring made from particleboard can cause issues with your joints. If you’re replacing your subfloor, it’s best to upgrade to plywood.

If you’re doing it yourself, you can expect the job to cost only the price of any tools, materials, or equipment that you don’t already have. If you’re hiring a professional, expect to pay between $2 and $7 per square foot for labor costs, along with added fees for materials.

Flooring transition strips can be glued, nailed, or screwed to the subfloor. Gluing has a cleaner finish, but screwing and nailing will result in a more secure installation.
