"Shine Of Minnetonka did a great job on our exterior window cleaning. The customer service is absolutely fantastic. After filling out the online inquiry, the owner Jeff called me back very quickly. He came out to my house the next day to give me a quote. The owner is super personable. He explained the procedure and the price was very reasonable. We booked them and due to a cancellation the work was done four days later. Our windows are now sparkling clean! I will for sure use this company again."

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can hang Christmas lights from the soffit of your roof, but it requires a bit more effort than hanging from the gutters or eaves. You’ll need to add an adhesive hook or tie to the underside of the soffit to keep the lights in place. Consider adding a soffit hook every 12 to 18 inches for best visual results.

Nails are a popular choice for hanging string lights, but they are not the only option. Use outdoor hooks, zip ties, or even awning hangers to string up lights outdoors. For indoor lights, use simple tacks, zip ties, damage-free adhesive hooks, or drawing pins. When all else fails, just wrap the lights around some furniture or outdoor fixtures.

Technically, you can use duct tape to hang Christmas lights, but it’s not the best bet. Duct tape or other types of tape retain moisture, which isn’t ideal when near an electrical wire. Plus, it can peel off due to the elements. Duct tape is also a very unattractive option, visually speaking. Instead, opt for roof clips for Christmas lights, which are affordable and easy to use.

You can attach Christmas lights to your palm tree by securely wrapping the strings around the tree. If you notice the strands slipping, you can also use a staple gun to secure them to the trunk.

The average cost to have a professional install Christmas lights on a roof is about $420, with most homeowners spending between $220 and $650. Some companies may charge between $1.25 and $3 per square foot, excluding the cost of the lights. For extensive or complex jobs, the cost can exceed $1,000. While doing it yourself can save money, it is only recommended if you are comfortable working at heights.
