"It went better than I could have imagined. All the other calls I made required a repair technician appointment and a separate salesperson appointment. Vitaliy the HVAC Doctor was extremely knowledgeable -- able to repair our old A/C enough to get us through until the new A/C was installed AND get us set up with a new one. We got a great new 2-stage A/C at a terrific price. Vitaliy really knows HVAC, and did a super job. Also, he has an incredible work ethic. He fit us in on short notice on a Saturday, and took his time answering all our questions. Once we were satisfied with the solution, he fixed everything by headlamp in the dark. He made sure we never felt pressured or rushed. We absolutely have a new favorite HVAC company."

The experience was pleasant. The technicians were friendly and didn't show any annoyance with my wanting to follow them around.  I followed them to learn more about my old house and to be sure I was getting the work done that I had hoped for and I did get a job well done!

It took me a long while to select and schedule with a provider because the cost for vent cleaning is so varied its rather crazy-making. My furnace company wanted more than $800, AAA Appliance--on special through Angie's List-- charged around $100/$150 with the dryer and dryer vent cleaning.

It has now been a couple months since the cleaning----which was actually the first time the vents had EVER been completely cleaned since built in 1959 (apparent as there were no access areas cut into the vents)! There was accumulated dust balls like small soccer balls that the technician showed me toward the end of the project. OMG!

Since the heat is now on, I had one day of a dusty smell and I do see a bit of dust that seems excessive and that I wonder if that amount will continue to show up, but I haven't had any trouble with sores in my nose. Last winter I constantly had sores in my nose from the dust in this forced air system.

I'm very happy with the work that this company did and with the technicians that did the job.

Thanks!

"Seemed very professional and knowledgable, however, he cancelled at the last minute because he was 'too busy'. As he would unable to do the work for about a month, I had to reschedule all of my other contractors and look for a new HVAC provider. Extremely inconvenient."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

The difference between a home surge protector and an HVAC surge protector is that an HVAC surge protector is designed to protect the components inside your HVAC unit while a home surge protector is installed near appliances and meant to protect your entire home. There are three tiers of whole-house surge protectors, and they are more expensive to install than HVAC surge protectors.

Window ACs use 500 to 1,400 watts per hour of electricity, while mini-splits use 500 to 700 watts per hour. However, if you need to cool multiple zones in your house, your mini-split can use as much as 2,000 watts per hour. How often you run your system will impact how much electricity you use (and how much you pay per month).

If you’re looking for a portable, budget-friendly cooling solution that doesn’t require any venting or installation, a ventless AC system is a good option. Similarly, this is a great choice if you’re renting an apartment or home and aren’t allowed to make large, structural changes like installing comprehensive HVAC, or you’re in a shared space and only need to cool your own room.

You should only run your dehumidifier in warmer months, such as spring and summer, to get the best performance out of your system. The air gets drier when temperatures drop in the winter months, creating less of a need for a dehumidifier. However, when to run a dehumidifier will depend on your local climate.

HVAC pros recommend that you replace your AC filter every one to three months to maintain optimal indoor air quality and ensure your HVAC system operates efficiently. However, factors such as filter type, household size, and environmental conditions may influence the frequency of replacement. Regular filter changes help prevent debris buildup, maintain airflow, and prolong the life span of your air conditioning unit.
