"Jon provided outstanding service. I installed new drywall for a basement project (game room, bathroom and closet) myself but needed a professional for the finishing work of taping, cornering and mudding. Jon did a phenomenal job, kept the work area clean -- no dust in the house, was prompt and provided a timeline of the work to me before he started so I knew what to expect. His price was very reasonable. A prior reviewer said "he is very professional and an all around good guy." I agree!"

"After their work on fixing the drywall, I wanted to hire them right away to do painting and blending. They fit me in the next day. Matched the pain color better than I expected. Doubt anyone would be able to tell even if I pointed it out. That is what you want. Blending requires a bit more artistic side than a full repaint would. They went out of there way to fit me in the next day and finish it in one go because I needed it to be done."

You do not need to drywall over most types of garage insulation. However, doing so can increase noise reduction, make the space more attractive, and keep children and pets from touching harmful fiberglass insulation. While you can put new drywall over old drywall, it’s not always the best option. In some cases, drywalling over drywall can make it harder to find wires and pipes behind your walls and conceal more serious problems with your walls. It can also make the room smaller. On the plus side, putting drywall over drywall can improve soundproofing and insulation. Plus, it’s often less expensive than tearing down and adding new drywall.

The short answer is yes, a sagging plaster ceiling is dangerous. Sagging plaster on a wall is something you should fix immediately, but it isn’t a major concern. If the same type of sagging occurs on a ceiling, however, you could be in danger of your ceiling falling in large chunks. When plaster sags, it loses its strength and ability to hold itself up. The bonds that hold it together are strong, though, so if a sagging area falls, it will take large pieces down with it.

A common cause of separation between a wall and the ceiling is truss lift—this can happen to the ceiling of rooms directly under the attic when the seasons change and wood building materials dry out, shrink, and shift. Roof trusses often dry out at different speeds, and if the bottom pieces dry out faster than the top pieces, they can shrink and pull the attached drywall away from ceilings and walls, causing cracks. Fortunately, truss lift is only a cosmetic problem, not a structural problem, and you can fix it by separating the ceiling drywall from the roof trusses, and patching the cracks.

The age of your home can clue you in to whether you have plaster or drywall ceilings. Homes built after the ‘70s are more likely to have drywall ceilings and walls, while older homes have plaster. You can also do the pushpin test: A pushpin will go into drywall, whereas it’s much harder to push one into a plaster wall.
