"Highly recommend this company. They responded quickly to my inquiry and were very professional in their presentation. Justin went above and beyond in installation of the sump pump which I purchased from him. He found a few things which needed to be corrected and he corrected them. Very much appreciated his efforts to make things safer and more efficient for me. If further water proofing is necessary Liebenow Waterproofing would be the first company I would call."

"I had a small amount of water/moisture intruding into the basement from where the wall met the floor along the North side of my basement. I called and set up an estimate with All-Star Basements after reading other reviews/quotes on Angie's list. The inspector, Rob, arrived and looked at the basement. He was courteous, professional, and answered all my questions. He gave me a very competitive quote for laying a drain tile system from the inside. The work consists of tearing up the concrete (2' width) along the inside basement walls and laying rock and drain hose leading to an inside sump pump then pouring new concrete over the excavated area. My area of concern was the North and North-East corner of the house. Rob bid $2000 to install a system that covers 2' of the West wall, the entire North wall, and 6' of the East wall and a sump pump. A 30' length job in total for $2,000.
The day of the project I received a call that the workers would start about two hours late because they had to clean out the work trailer after heavy rains soaked their gear. When the workers arrived they made sure to place floor coverings and plastic in areas to prevent dust intrusion into the rest of the house. They then jackhammered, excavated, and installed the system. It took about 7 hrs. The workers were polite, efficient, and very hard working. I was impressed. They poured the concrete and afterwards they invited me to inspect their work. They did a very good job leveling the concrete. Last they asked me where I wanted the outside sump pump drain hose placed. I wanted it to go towards the back of the house. They placed it in an area where it would be completely hidden from view (along the house behind plants and into shrubs along the fence).
After a few days of heavy rain the system was collecting water and pumping it out. I was surprised because I didn't expect to see the system at work until spring. The pump is VERY quiet, basically undetectable. I'm very satisfied with All Star Basements.

"We now walk out of our basement french doors onto a beautiful bricked patio. Tom and his worker did a phenomenal job! They were very hard-working, professional, efficient and definitely very detail oriented and work was completed timely. They also kept us updated on the installation. They are very knowledgeable and pointed out pros and cons which other contractors did not do. At the same time they were respectful and pleasant, letting us make up our own minds. Because of experience in related fields, they were able to share knowledge we probably would not have otherwise received.
First they completed measurements to ensure the grading was correct so everything in the end would be level. Yes, the bricks are extremely level and graded so the water runs away from the house. This involved laying down the foundation. Attention to detail was displayed when Tom and his worker arranged the different colored pavers into an attractive pattern and laid the pavers for a tight fit. They also took the extra time to ensure the pavers were cut in such a way there was both a tight fit and attractive look when installing around the piers. Not only does Tom do phenomenal work but his worker does too! They went above and beyond when Tom rerouted our existing irrigation for the sprinkler system to accommodate the pavers. Excellent job on clean-up too.
They are definitely concerned about and use quality material and used superior weed cloth barrier, extra long spikes, edging and such materials. Their bid was competitive and we felt fortunate to have had such a qualified company do our job. They also guarantee their work for 5 years and only one other contractor we found had this same guarantee. Most do 1 year based on companies we researched.
They go above and beyond what is required. I forgot to move some hosta plants and when I came home I received a pleasant surprise in that the plants were dug out for me and put aside by his worker.
We definitely plan to use this company again and highly recommend their work."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, the air from a damp basement can travel up into your living area through a process called the stack effect, so moisture, mold spores, and other debris in your basement air can all decrease your indoor air quality on your main floors. Additionally, damp basements can promote the rotting of building materials, which can damage flooring, insulation, and framing on your first floor in addition to materials in the basement.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.

You should take care of any sign of water in your basement, whether it’s dampness after heavy rain or puddles of water on the floor. Besides potentially causing a health hazard, the moisture can damage your home’s structure and foundation. Furthermore, mold can grow quickly and spread throughout the rest of your home. With mold remediation costs ranging between $1,200 and $3,400, it’s best to avoid mold issues by fixing the leak.

Costs depend on pump type, labor, and site-specific requirements like excavation or drainage lines.

A sump pump should be placed at least three feet deep in a pit. The rim of the sump pump basin should be level with your basement floor. If you find your pit is too deep, you can fill the bottom with gravel until the rim of the sump pump is flush with the floor.
