"I purchased a $99 BIG DEAL for an HVAC tune up.  The technician arrived on-time (Spring of 2012) and was very courteous.  During the inspection, the tech found a leaking drip pan.  A hose was replaced under warrenty, but I was charged $129 for a service call.   During the initial inspection, the tech also found an electrical device - a motor starter - "suspect' on the outside condenser unit.  The tech explained that the device was pitted and could cause premature motor failure.  The cost to replace the starter was $262 (cost to replace the motor, if failed would be $700).  The tech then offered me "Club Membership", giving me a 10% discount, priority service, and a fall tune up.  Cost was $200.   I caved and purchased the club membership and gave the OK to replace the motor starter.  Afterward, i investigated the cost of the motor starter (available at Home Depot) and found it to cost less than $25.  The tech spent about 15 minutes replacing it.  Pretty good margins, I'd say.
Foward six months to October 2012 :  No contact from the vendor about a fall tune up.  When I turned on the heat for the first time of the season, the system failed.  I called AirTech and they promptly sent out a technician.  Almost immediately, he declaired that a major electronic controller was the culprit.  Cost to repair would be $550 plus the service call charge.  I was suspect, but gave the tech the OK to replace the controller.  He did so, but the new controller indicated another problem : a motorized damper, which was connected to the controller.  Perhaps the original controller was not faulty after all, I asked the tech?  He responded that both devices probably went bad at the same time.   He got the furnace running, but took the damper devices with him back to the shop.   After several weeks and not hearing back from them, I called and inquired.  AirTech sent another technician out to replace the damper.
Here is my beef and suspician :  my HVAC unit is 4 years old.  Before Airtech opened it up, it had never had a problem.  After a "tune up" and six months of time, I have now forked out OVER $1000 !!!!  The whole thing reeks of bait-and-switch.  Perhaps not, but perception is reality.
To the credit of the AirTech owner, Jaren, he did refund the likely a mis-diagnosis of the control module.  He and I had multiple conversations about it and I was pleased that he stepped up to the plate in an attempt to make it right.

"For a number of years I had been trying to figure out how to get some privacy in our fish bowl back yard surrounded by a 4-foot chain link fence which I fond to be very unattractive. It has been difficult to plant for privacy along the fence because there is so much shade. I had thought about having a nice wood fence built but a six ft wood fence wouldn’t help that much because all our neighbors have decks plus fences seem kind of unfriendly and un-neighborly. That is when I started to observe trellises in other people’s yards and it finally dawned on me that trellises could help accomplish the privacy I was longing for and yet seem neighbor friendly. I started looking on Angie’s List and found GARDEN STRUCTURES & MORE listed. I went to their website a was very excited about the pictures he had posted of their other projects. I called Hal and he came out and we talked about my ideas. He seemed to fall right in with what I was thinking. He wasn’t able to get to my project immediately but he was able to work my job in among his other jobs so the weight was not very long. When Hal and his crew of 3 get going they work very hard and are amazingly productive. By the way digging some of the holes was a nightmare because of the tree roots. They do a lot of the prep work and construction in their shop ahead of time. I am wild about my trellises. They are accomplishing exactly what I envisioned. They are built strategically in the open areas along the fence line on all three sides if the back yard. They are handsome and substantial. Nothing like the trellises you find in the nurseries. I have already gotten compliments from the neighbors. They look nice from both sides of the fence. My friends think it is a brilliant solution. I am already thinking about other projects I want GARDEN STRUCTURES & MORE to do. Perhaps a nice garden shed and maybe some kind of shelter to hang a hammock. I couldn’t be happier with their work and my lovely private garden paradise I am in the process of accomplishing. My thanks go out to Hal and your crew."
