"Two techs from Integrity Furnace And Air Ducts came to my house to clean my air ducts. They were on time and started right away. They put there equipment though my air ducts. They did not tell me what they were doing until I asked. They give me a very vague answer. When they were about done the one guy asked to use my bathroom. When they were done they pulled out my furnace filter which was full of dust. They said they would blow it off and put back in. Lucky I had a new furnace filter to put in. They charged me $200.00. And were gone in 45 minutes. That meant that each tech got about $133.00 an hour. They did not show me before and after pictures of my air ducts. Which I thought I was paying for. You would think that would be included. And they charged me 7.57% sales tax instead of 7.525% . I called them about this and they refused to return the difference."

"I recently had Prolific Mechanical install a new air conditioning system, and I couldn't be happier with the results. The young man who completed the installation was professional, courteous, and extremely knowledgeable. He took pride in his work, kept everything clean, and made sure the installation was done correctly from start to finish. The new system runs flawlessly and keeps the house comfortable even on the hottest days. I highly recommend Prolific Mechanical to anyone looking for quality workmanship and dependable HVAC service."

"I had another company come out and they told me that they could not clean or fix my current unit (which is still being sold). Troy came and did both and in the process he saved me hundreds of dollars. As a small business owner, I value integrity, which this organization has. I am highly recommending them to everyone I know. Make this your first call when you need a HVAC repair or help."

"This company has treated me well, especially Mike Museus, who worked over a year (last summer and this spring) to find out why there was a fluid leak in my new AC unit. The leak didn't affect the cooling of my home so I wasn't concerned, but Mike was persistent, even to returning finally with an "expert" to help diagnose the problem. What they found was that the A-coil above the furnace was full of tiny pinholes. On the day this was to be replaced, Steve came before 9 a.m. to remove the defective A-Coil and install the new one. He worked on it all day, without lunch or a break, leaving shortly after 5 p.m. There was no charge, as it was still under warranty. With all that, he still took the time to explain to me why the replacement was so important: that the defective A-Coil could eventually leak enough to damage the furnace below it. Because he was using solder, I believe, to install the new part, he turned on the ceiling fan in the adjacent room to mitigate the fumes. My only complaint is that a few of my vinyl floor tiles were damaged/discolored by the soldering process. That part of the flooring has had water damage before and is missing a few tiles so, after a day of hard work, he may have attributed the damage to work done before. It's not a big deal; I just wish he'd have said something. I have to hand it to Steve, though; he was working by himself, which frequently required him to leave the furnace area to check the outdoor AC unit, then rush back to the indoor work. I think it might have been a two-person job. At least, an assistant could have facilitated some of the work done."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

You can adjust uneven airflow in your home by adjusting the dampers on the vents. However, if the temperature feels consistent throughout the home, don’t worry too much about uneven airflow. Generally speaking, larger rooms should receive more airflow than smaller rooms, especially if they only have one vent.

Don’t run your AC with a wet filter. It can cause your AC to work too hard, which will run up your utility bill and cause extra wear and tear on the system. You could also spread moisture and mold throughout your house. Turn off the AC, remove the wet filter, and check for cracks or clogs. Fix the problem (with a pro’s help, if you need it), and put a dry filter in place before you turn the system back on.

If there’s a freon leak in your home’s AC unit, it will cause the system to work overtime to cool the house. That issue will result in higher energy bills and it will take much longer for cool air to disperse throughout the home. If your system has a freon leak during the summer, it can make hot days miserable. That’s why it’s important to hire an HVAC professional to resolve a freon leak as quickly as possible.

There are two main reasons your furnace and AC are turning on at the same time. The first could be that you’re confusing the furnace with the blower. The blower is located in the furnace and will turn on to distribute cool air from the air conditioner through the ductwork in the home. This is normal. If the actual furnace is turning on at the same time as the AC and hot and cool air are coming into the home, it could be a result of incorrect writing to a new thermostat or new systems.

To find a reputable HVAC company, start by researching providers in your area. Look for companies with mostly positive online reviews and check the Better Business Bureau’s website for customer complaints. Next, verify their credentials. Rule out any companies that aren’t licensed, as this is a requirement in some states and municipalities, and confirm they are insured. Once you have a shortlist, contact each professional to ask key questions: How many years of experience do you have? Do you hold any third-party certifications? Do you have experience working on my specific type of HVAC system or brand? Can you provide references? What is your per-hour pricing? Do you offer maintenance contracts for ongoing savings? Do you provide a warranty for your work?
