"In Aug./Sep. 2019, Rogers Masonry did a tear-down of our decrepit stuccoed chimney, followed by a beautiful brick re-build. The project posed some every unique challenges that Roger handled with a high level of professionalism and diligence. He is exceptionally knowledgeable in all chimney-related matters and provided almost-daily progress reports to document the work his crew was performing. His communication was exemplary, and he was responsive to our questions/concerns, all of which he promptly addressed. We were especially appreciative of the many pictures of the ongoing work that Roger provided throughout the project. We have already had the opportunity to make a referral for Roger and hope to work with him on another chimney project in 2020."

"We are extremely pleased with the work that Hardline Concrete and Masonry completed for us. Jon and Brenda are wonderful to work with and made a point to ensure our needs were met for our project. Their crew was also very kind and professional. The patio that they installed for us is beautiful and the quality of the work appears to be excellent. We are confident that we will be able to enjoy our new patio for many years to come and will definitely hire Hardline Concrete and Masonry for future projects."

"They tuck pointed and repaired brick steps. The price they charged was less than half of the other estimate we received. ( That is not an exaggeration.) The work was excellent and performed on a timely and efficient basis. They promptly returned calls and otherwise communicated with us on a timely basis. We plan on using them for all brick and masonry projects."

"Robert was great to deal with.  He not only supplied the best bid the work was done in a timely manner.  I'm very pleased with the result of the project.  He started on time and worked long days in the heat and completed the project in one week.  He went out of his way to come up with brick that was close to the original as they don't make the original (from the 1950's) anymore.  Robert was thorough and delivered the job at budget within the timeframe we agreed to.

"Our asphalt walkway and wooden patio were replaced with patio pavers. Catalog allowed us to pick a color pattern we liked, and Mike recommended a black border. The combination turned out beautiful. We were happy with the final product, and Mike, Matt, and the rest of the crew were very pleasant and respectful of,property."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Cobblestone can be made from many different types of stones but the most common ones, by far, are granite, basalt, limestone, and sandstone.  If you are laying a brick paver patio or other such project, the medium is different. It’s rare, but cobblestone can also be made from marble, slate, jasper, and other types of rock. Technically, you can make cobblestone from almost any type of rock, but if it is weather-resistant and stands the test of time is another question entirely.

When painting brick, each application method has distinct advantages and disadvantages. Spraying is significantly faster but may not penetrate deeply beyond the surface layer. Rolling is effective for working paint into the brick's texture but can be less effective on mortar joints. If you opt for a roller, choose a thick nap of at least a half-inch to ensure paint gets into all the crevices for even coverage. Using a brush is generally not recommended as it is very time-consuming and provides poor surface penetration. Ultimately, a combination of spraying followed by back-rolling is often the best strategy for a durable and even finish.

Two types of masonry are veneer masonry and solid masonry. Veneer masonry is thin brick or stone material attached to the face of a building. With veneer masonry, the walls support the weight of the masonry products rather than the masonry being built on a concrete footing. Solid masonry is a wall or other brick or stone structure built on a concrete footing, and the masonry supports itself.

Choosing the right paint color for your brick house can be a daunting task. A great strategy is to find painted brick houses that you like and try to replicate the look by researching their colors or asking the homeowners for the specific paint color code.

If you're looking for specific ideas, several colors work well on brick. Different shades of white, such as off-white or cream-white, can create a modern, timeless, and classic look that is unlikely to go out of style. For a more contemporary aesthetic, you might consider a matte black tone. Other popular choices include gray, blue, and sage green.

No, it’s not recommended to attach shutters to brick without drilling. Brick is dense and built to last, so adhesives and shortcut methods don’t usually cut it. Even heavy-duty glue struggles to hold up over time—especially against wind, moisture, and temperature changes. Most no-drill options are made for materials like vinyl or wood, not solid masonry. Skipping the drill might seem easier, but it puts your shutters—and anything below them—at risk. For a secure, lasting install, drilling is the way to go. It takes more effort up front, but the result is safer and more reliable.
