"I gave a 4 for value for money as I have nothing to compare it to. It cost $9K to drill troughs, enlarge sump with 2 separate drain lines through foundation 10â into yard, battery backup and alarm in my 8x8 crawl space/Michigan basement. A clogged air gap can cause a dishwasher not to drain. There are, however, other potential issues that can lead to improper drainage. For example, if you have attached the air gap to a garbage disposal and forgotten to remove the knockout plug, wastewater may backflow into the dishwasher. Check that the air gap is installed properly, and then look for clogs in the air gap and dishwasher filters. 

Baking soda and vinegar aren’t just great for making a volcano for your kid’s science project. You can also pour this dynamic duo down your shower drain to dissolve hair clogs. If that doesn’t do the trick, you can step it up with a commercial liquid drain cleaner. 

Several signs can tip you off to a clogged dishwasher drain. At first, you may notice that it’s taking longer than usual for the dishwasher to drain, or you may hear gurgling sounds during the draining part of the cycle. You might also notice water backing up into your sink or excess food at the bottom of the dishwasher after a load. The most obvious sign, though, is seeing standing water at the bottom of your dishwasher after the cycle has finished.

To keep window wells from filling up with water, you need to stay on top of maintenance. Remove debris as it fills up, and regularly loosen the gravel at the base if it’s become compacted. You can also reslope your yard to make sure water flows away from the window well (and your home’s foundation), and you can even install a window well cover to prevent debris from building up. Installing an actual drainpipe at the base of the well can also prevent window well drainage problems.

First, find the cleanout pipe in your yard. Unscrew the cap—you may need a wrench to do so. Then, get a drain snake. You can use a non-motorized one, but a motorized snake will make the job a little easier. Feed the snake through the pipe until it reaches the clog. Spin the snake continuously, but don’t try to feed it through the pipe anymore. Keep spinning until you feel it break the clog apart.
