Winchel Irrigation LLCWe've been renovating our house for 6 years and are almost at the finish. This summer was the last big project - a new garage, septic, and driveway. We decided to have underground sprinklers installed at the same time. I contacted Winchel's based on the Angie's List reviews. Greg came out and gave us a quote. We live on a lake and had hoped to run the sprinklers off the lake water. However, Greg explained it would be cheaper and less maintenance in the long run to run it off our well. Greg was fantastic. We didn't get any more quotes after he came. He was professional, responded quickly to e-mails and phone calls and kept us up to date on when the crew would be here. I was even leaving town for a week and he worked it out so they would come before I left. The only downside, my neighbor described the installation crew as a "rough bunch". Nice guys, but didn't seem to be wearing any clothing identifying what company they were from. Didn't knock at the door when the got here or walk us through what they were doing in the yard. But, ultimately they got the job done. So, yes, we would use them again.- Jared W.

J P Lawn SprinklersI have dealt with JP for years, which is great because I don't have to look for a new company each year. They are easily the most hassle-free company I have ever used. They are reasonably priced, always show up as scheduled, and are very knowledgable. In the spring, they take the initiative to look over my yard to see if I have made any changes and they recommend adjustments. If only all service providers were this easy.- JF T.

Sharon came recommended to me by the lawn service that cares for my son's home. She services the Lawn Professionals home, so I thought I would give her a try. She talks very quickly, but will stop or reexplain anything. My husband recently passed away, so everything was new to me, add the fact that I am handicapped, which added a whole list of other concerns and questions. She set up the system according to my needs and priorities, even taking in to consideration a possible property renovation. Sharon explained all the products, why she recommends what she does and how it is serviced and warrantied. I was immediately comfortable working with her. We also went over a couple of scenarios of lay outs to reduce the cost, and possibly add zones on later. I thought about it and later decided to go with the original layout. I sent a deposit check and got an estimated start date. Another job got postponed due to a customer that had a death in the family and Sharon asked if she and her crew could get to work sooner?! My husband has extensive landscaping with mature beds. All of this was painstakingly hand dug. Sharon discussed with me where the best access points would be through my basement and why. SHE moved the items necessary to complete the interior construction, then offered to put it back. She added another vacuum valve in the back yard. She did so many things for me and didn't charge me a penny extra. Winterization is free the first year. There is a 2 year warranty and she supplied me with heads that have a 5 year warranty. The only thing that I slightly downgraded was punctuality. She will say a time, but because she works in five counties I learned that is a window, and she calls before she comes to your home. My neighbor ran over two of my FLAGGED heads ON MY PROPERTY. Sharon put them on flexible pipe so they wouldn't snap off. When I called her today, she told me how to test the system again, and offered to come and check everything over on Monday! She and her crew had great respect for my home and told me what to expect every step of the way. Not only on the outset, but as the job progressed. I give them an A+++

I just moved to Michigan last year, and searched for a company to install a new irrigation system. Titan called me back same day, and I was quoted within 3 days. Ralph stayed in contact with me through the whole process. These guys do a great job, are very helpful, and do what they say and when. If not, they will let you know. Just a great overall experience!

Trademark do a great job with the retaining wall around my deck. They replied to my request quickly and were always in contact about the job. If I had a question it was easy to text them and get a quick response. I will be using them again this coming spring for some more landscape planting. I would certainly recommend TradeMark.

Liquid aeration had zero positive effect. Was it even performed? My soil is just as compacted, but there's a small Fit Turf sign in my yard, the vegetation has yellowed, and there are dead ladybugs on my driveway. The sign says WARNING PESTICIDES APPLIED which is extremely troubling, since I am 100% against pesticides and I don't have any grass growing in my yard which would possibly need to be defended from pests. The only pests are telemarketers such as those from Fit Turf. Let me explain. I'm a homeowner. The house was built in the seventies, and apparently there was never a lawn here. We're on a hillside and I'm planning to plant some kind of a ground cover to contain erosion. The soil is clay, interspersed with rocks and thick-stemmed weeds. Fit Turf called, and while I was looking around for my digital tape recorder (I record every telemarketer because we've been on both the state and Federal Do Not Call lists for years, yet telemarketers keep calling. Cynthia Coffman needs to start sueing them, like Arizona's attorney general did, to the tune of $1 million dollars this year) I told the guy I have clay soil, I'm on a hillside, and there is no lawn. He told me he was looking at my house on Google Earth and it looked like my lawn needed some TLC. "That's not a lawn. That's weeds. I mow every week so they don't grow tall enough to incur a fine" I explained. He was happy to hear about my weeds, and launched into his Weed Eradication script. I did telemarketing when I was sixteen, and prewritten scripts haven't changed much--they all have an unnaturally stilted perkiness, if that makes sense. Kind of like the auditory equivalent of **** music. Anyway, I ended up agreeing to a one-time only liquid aeration treatment for forty-someodd dollars. I hadn't done any research on liquid aeration treatments, but the concept was appealing considering that I have clay soil and I'm on a hill. The jury's out on whether anything occurred other than weeds yellowing and ladybugs dying, and us sneezing and hacking up phlegm for a few days after the sign appeared in the front yard.

Absolutely Terrible and Lawn is dying with their services! We have been using them for 10 years. This year their applied services have ruined our lawn. Bloomfield manager came out finally and said,”Yep your lawn is needed up!” And the did it! Used to have best lawn in the neighborhood with sod and no weeds! Not anymore and the same services were performed by TrueGreen as previous years! We are going to post signs in our yard saying “Work performed by TrueGreen”!!! Absolutely the worst lawn killing service!!

Master Plumber, Plumbing Contractor
Recent Review:
The pipe repair (installing new shut offs under kitchen sink) and faucet installation went fine. When the sink began leaking the same day, Lon refused to even return out to verify his work as an act of good will and instilling confidence in a first time customer. I find it hard to believe a formerly non-leaking sink was suddenly leaking as pure coincidence the same day plumbing repairs were made within inches of the now leaking underbelly of my sink. Not only did Lon refuse to return without a service call fee, he further stated he "NEVER MAKES MISTAKES." I find it arrogant and unprofessional to admit as a living, breathing, fallible human that one never ever makes a mistake. That alone was enough to destroy any confidence I have in working with Lon again. I am sure his work is great 99.9% of the time, but to be so arrogant as to not even want to build loyalty and customer satisfaction with a quick check of work performed and scan for oversights is unprofessional and is what gives trade workers a poor reputation. I support the trades, and we would be lost without them, but reputation management is key.

He suggested completely replacing the roof instead of trying to locate the leak and patching it. We agreed as the roof was probably over 15 years old. We had no way to know exactly as this house was newly purchased and the previous owner did not know either (she was a divorcee). Next rain after the roof replacement, within a span of weeks, we realized the leak was still there. Called him and he stated he isn't in the area and that he will stop by next time there is rain and he is in the area. Needless to say that never happened. He continued to delay and postpone until his labor warranty expired (in his case that's 1 year) at which point he denied any responsibility. At this point the only potential recourse left was the manufacturer warranty on the shingles themselves. I don't know how far that would have gotten us and we will never know since the contractor failed to give us any warranty paperwork for the shingles though we repeatedly asked him for it. Whether we needed it or not we indeed have a new roof but the leak, which was the original task, never got fixed. We are now looking for somebody else to fix it. My recommendation: if you are forced to use him (contractor work is hard to find at the moment) make sure you keep a tight leash and are all buttoned up before you sign that last check to him. He is not coming back for anything once that's done.
