Customers say: Quality work

"Electrician showed up at the end of the estimated window. He completed the work in the allotted time. He was very tidy and friendly. He walked me through all the installations before he left. The next day, one of the exterior lights was tripping the breaker whenever it was turned on. The company sent the same electrician the next available business day and he fixed it with no additional charge. Everything has worked well since then. The office personnel were very accommodating with my schedule and responsive to my concerns. Would recommend them."

"Mr. Writer Bush is professional, skilled and pleasant. He replaced a ceiling fan, a light fixture and several GFCI outlets. He corrected several shortcuts taken by previous electricians, and explained each safety improvement to me. He asked for approval when needing to exceed the initial quote by $10. I really respect his work and his work ethic. We will hire him again, and I look forward to welcoming him into our home."

"Got the whole package for LESS than the price of JUST the roof quoted from another company. We loved their competitive pricing. Roof looks great. Installs were scheduled quickly. An energy audit was included and qualified us for extra rebates! Bonus! Happy customer!"

"Dave came to the house and provided a competitive quote.  He was able to schedule an electrician for Saturday morning (Memorial day weekend) to complete the repairs.    The electrician removed the broken riser and installed a new riser so that DTE could reconnect the electric power to the home.

"This is the second time I had Bryan over do some work. The first time he installed some bars in the shower for me.  This time I had a new refrigerator sitting in the middle of my kitchen -which was about an eighth of an inch too wide to go in the space.  Bryan was very responsive. He made time the next morning to come out and address it. He took the time to adjust the cabinets surround to allow the refrigerator to fit and hooked up the waterline for me. He also  repaired and stained some molding my dog had scratched in the doorway. Thanks Bryan -Will call on you again!

Chandelier Installation questions, answered by experts

Incandescent lights are glass bulbs with metallic filaments inside, while LEDs feature “light emitting diodes” that illuminate when they come in contact with an electrical current. You can buy either for your Christmas lights, but note that LED lights are more energy-efficient and have a longer lifespan.

For high ceilings, chandeliers and pendant lights are great choices. They offer a decorative focal point to the room, while also illuminating the space. Track lighting may also be a good option for high ceilings as it allows you to position the lights around the space for all-over illumination.

If you’re planning to use an LED in an enclosed fixture like a lantern, check that the bulb is rated for enclosed spaces. LEDs are sensitive to heat, and overheating can lower their lifespan. While you can still use some LEDs safely in enclosed areas, it must be the right LED.

There are four main types of lighting used in homes: ambient, task, accent, and decorative. Within these categories, there are a number of fixtures to choose from including ceiling-mounted lights, floor lamps, under-cabinet lights, track lighting, and more.

Choosing the fixture that’s right for you depends on your home design and the area you’re looking to illuminate.

You will likely need an electrical permit to install outdoor lighting, but it depends on where you live. Some municipalities don’t require a permit for electrical work, but you should call your building department or ask your outdoor lighting installer if a permit will be necessary. Your professional should pull the permits for you, if required, and close them out after the work is done. Either way, you will be responsible for the permit fee, which typically falls between $50 and $150.
