"100% would recommend Mica from Plunkett’s to deal with your cockroach issues. We had roaches off and on for many months, despite a good cleaning regime etc., and eventually realized other units in our shared building had the same issues. Mica quickly and precisely diagnosed the source of the issue, was real with us about time and possible costs, worked with us in coordinating multiple units, patiently answered all questions, and in the end helped my neighbors and I deal with this extremely persistent issue in a relatively short time frame. He approached treatment with a lot of care and thought, in particular listening and adjusting for our concerns re: safety of our young toddler. This was a big one for us! We are available after hours and weekends for emergencies and appointments. We are a family owned and operated company since 1999 serving Michigan. We handle all wildlife issues including repairing damage they cause.

"For the last two months I have been hearing faint clicking or scratching sounds coming from an area near a ceiling light in the living room. I called and scheduled an inspection. I was told that the price for the inspection would be $185. Even though the noise had stopped a week or so before the scheduled inspection, I decided to go ahead with the inspection, thinking that whatever was making the noise would probably come back. Aaron arrived on time. He listened to a recording that I had made of the scratching sound, and he said he thought a rodent might have nested itself in the attic. He then walked around the exterior of the house, looking for areas where a rodent might enter. He also walked on the roof and looked up through the hatch of the attic. The inspection took around 15 minutes. He found one possible entry point on the side of the house and sealed it with material that matched the appearance of the surrounding siding. He asked if I wanted him to set traps near the attic hatch, but I declined since the noise had stopped and the hatch was 25 feet away from the source of the noise. The day after the inspection, the scratching sounds returned. I think I need to find someone who will go into the attic area in order to find the source of the noise."

Cockroaches are attracted to the smell of food. They're particularly attracted to grease, meat, cheese, sugar, and starch. Any rotten food such as fruits or vegetables puts off a strong odor that attracts the pests as well. Even dirty clothing can be enticing for cockroaches, which is why they're often found in laundry baskets.

Moles live underground and feed on insects. They dig and move through tunnels, usually in meadows or forests but sometimes in lawns and gardens. They are about 6 inches long with large claws, tiny eyes, and hidden ears. 

Shrews do not dig their own tunnels but will use other animals’ tunnels, and are about 3 to 4 inches long. They look similar to mice and feed on insects.

Voles are similar in size to moles but have large eyes and small but visible ears. Rather than eating insects, voles are herbivores that prefer seeds, grasses, and plant roots.

The presence of insects or anything that might attract them (like food left out or poorly sealed trash cans), excessive outdoor lighting, and untended wood or cardboard boxes are just some of what attracts spiders in general. In particular, brown recluse spiders are drawn to dark spots with lots of nooks and crannies for nesting, like wood or dirt piles. 

Boric acid is among the harsher chemicals you can use in your home, and it poses risks whether ingested, inhaled, or touched. Kids and pets alike tend to put their hands and mouths on anything within reach, so it’s always a good idea to store boric acid in a spot they can’t get to and use it only when they’re not around for an extended period. When you use it, ensure they’re out of the house and fully clean up any trace of boric acid when you’re done because even a small amount can cause problems. 

To clean a trash can with maggots, combine chlorine bleach and hot water in a 1-to-1 ratio and pour about half a gallon of the solution into the bottom of your garbage can. Just make sure there aren’t holes in the can before doing so. Close the lid, and let the fumes go to work to kill the maggots. Rinse the can with a hose outside. Consider finishing up with a bleach disinfectant and a scrub brush before letting the can dry completely. You can also consider hiring an exterminator near you for a quick, easy solution to maggots in your garbage cans.
