Small jobs welcome

"Did an exceptional job for us. Coordinated the job with us very well by establishing a schedule with us. Kept us updated on the progress. Job site house keeping was done each before leaving. Left it like they were not there. Craftsmanship was very meticulous. Made sure everything was right and acceptable to homeowners. There were no surprises in their estimate for the project. Even corrected some things in bath that was not directly related to shower such as correcting vent fan exhaust hose that was kinked. Definitely would hire again."

"He was able to show up the same day I requested service. Even though it was not something that he would typically do he was willing to help anyway. Did a good job and cleaned up afterwards."

"Went OK. They did the work and it 'mostly worked' when they were done. I say mostly because the pressure valve was blowing off of the boiler when they were done (This was NOT happening before they had done the work). I had noticed this the day after I had paid. I contacted them and they wanted to replace the expansion tank and charge me $200. I asked - shouldn't this be covered under the initial work of $4600? They said the part wasn't explicitly in the quote. Frankly at this point to replace what really was a $40 part and half hour of time to do a fully finished job (for $4600). For 1. How am I supposed to know (as a customer) what should be on the quote for a fully finished job (pumps, piping, etc? - they are the expert) 2. How am I supposed to know this isnt their fault. (Shouldnt an autofilling expansion tank be connected to the incoming water supply?) Frankly not standing fully behind their work and making sure they do everything to do a good, finished job - left a 'bad' taste in my mouth. In the end I replaced the auto-filling expansion tank with an Extrol expansion tank for $40 and it took me less than an hour. After that it all appears to work."

"Matt Williams did an excellent job on all the cabinetry! The bookshelf/cabinet unit he built around the fireplace is beautiful, as is the cabinet and drawers under the kitchen counter. Excellent attention to detail. He also reframed the pocket door so it now works great and reframed the doors. His workers did most of the door moldings and baseboard work - a few things that weren't done correctly were redone without problem. Matt also went out of his way to help us when unforeseen events occurred during this time that were not in his contract, such as when we had a leak from our water system that created a big mess in our finished basement - Matt helped clean everything and brought in powerful fans to dry everything out. He also gave us help in design, materials, colors, etc. and helped with many other questions and problems we encountered in our remodel.
However, he works several jobs at the same time and thus we usually didn't know whether he or his workers would be on our job or someone else's on any given day. Sometimes they'd come for just a short time to work, then leave to go somewhere else. Many times they never came at all. We had to leave a key for them to get into the house whenever they wanted. We moved out of the house for July and August, but Build LLC's work wasn't completed until October. We stopped in several times a week to check on progress. Many times no work was done until a deadline for something else was at hand, such as the counters were to be installed or the flooring was to be installed or the stainers were waiting to finish staining until the two kitchen cabinet doors were completed. It was very frustrating.

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

You can enclose an open carport, however, there are several things to consider before opting to do so. You'll want to check local building codes and permit requirements before proceeding to make sure it’s legal. While you can sometimes stick-frame a carport enclosure, pre-fab kits are also available. Remember that you'll likely need to meet concrete slab regulations and provide lighting inside the structure. Both of which could substantially drive up costs.

When choosing a drywall anchor, consider the weight of the object you're hanging and how much weight the anchor will need to support. The heavier the weight, the stronger the anchor you'll need. You’ll find the weight capacity on the packaging when shopping for anchors.

Also, remember that you can use more than one anchor when hanging something on the wall. If you're using multiple anchors, divide the object weight by the number of anchors to determine how much each will need to support. If you need help deciding which drywall anchor to use, you can hire a handyperson to hang your objects.

Framing a basement takes three to five days, on average, when completed by a professional, though it may take longer for a larger space. Keep in mind this doesn’t include the time to complete the design, obtain permits, and install the drywall on the framing. On average, fully finishing a basement takes an average of 45 days.

When hanging a door frame, it’s recommended that you use screws, not nails. Screws are more secure, easier to tighten, and easier to remove if you need to adjust the frame. On average, the cost to replace a door frame is about $400, but you can save on labor costs if you’re confident in your ability to DIY the project.

It’s best to use two screws to secure deck boards into every joist. Securing the boards to every joist makes the deck more structurally sound, while using two screws on the outer sides of the boards can help prevent warping and cupping.
