At this time we are not offering roofing or hardwood floor refinishing. If we don't offer the service, we have plenty of quality businesses we can refer you to.
We started with a disasterous and unfinished remodeling attempt left by the previous homeowners and ended with a very professional job and brand new living space. Bruce and Keith did an excellent job from start to finish.
Description of Work: Remodeled basement family room, office, hallway, and bath, built new closets, new drywall, repaired old drywall, all new woodwork, 5 doors, new suspended ceiling and recessed lighting.

I had an excellent experience with them. They are willing to work with us and make any changes that are necessary.
Description of Work: I used Bruce Jennings Builders for electrical works. He is in the process in doing the job. We used him several times.
Bruce Jennings designed, constructed, stained and installed custom built-in oak cabinets within our family room. The shelving is on both sides of the fireplace, involves angled sections, and one unit contains our TV. He also redesigned our mantel to match the shelves. Bruce came by a few times before building the shelves to discuss design. He worked with us to come up with a plan that we liked. One draw back may be he wasn't too forward with suggestions when we asked what he felt would look good in the space. Despite this, he was patient with us as we choose our various options. The wall behind the cabinets had two different depths, an outlet, a light switch, an air intake, and a thermostat. All challenges that Bruce was able to navigate around without difficulty. He had very valuable input, for example he pointed out that stained shelving would wear better than painted shelving, but never forced an idea on us. Once we put down a deposit his time frame for the project was very accurate. The cabinet doors that close in the TV unit have required some follow up work due to a manufacturer defect in the hinge hardware. Bruce has been prompt in returning our calls and in continuing to work with us to get the doors functioning properly. The final result looks excellent, works perfectly, and we've received many compliments. The most remarkable part, however, is that he gave a reasonable estimate for the project up front and managed to stay within that budget. Something I've found to be rare in sub-contractor type work. We have been very pleased with Bruce and his work and would recommend him to anyone considering a home improvement project.

I had Bruce Jennings came out to help us complete our unfinished basement. Our basement was wide open with a concrete floor. I had preliminary plans drawn up, and Bruce was able to help finalize them by suggesting improvements. Our basement is rather large so Bruce drew up plans to do it in two phases so that if we didn't have the money to do the whole project, he would break it up for us. I was also able to do all the painting to help save some money as well. Bruce did quality work. Maybe it took a little longer than someone else, but I will take quality over speed any day. An example of this is that he only used screws when erecting the walls. He did not use a nail gun. Bruce was very accomodating to any changes or deviations we wanted to make from our original plans. Any mistakes that he did make, he would fix once it was brought to his attention. Getting a hold of Bruce to discuss details or changes should only be done by phone. I know he gives out his e-mail address, but Bruce will never respond to it. We left our house unlocked from our walkout basement and trusted Bruce to come and go as he pleased. Bruce kept things as clean as he could after each day of working and he got along with our dogs really well. One thing to note is that Bruce only does one project at a time. He focused solely on our basement and was there almost every day until the project was done. We will be using Bruce again once we save up enough money for phase 2 of our basement.
Description of Work: The following was constructed, or subcontracted out, by Bruce in our unfinished basement: Workout room - Drywall ceiling with bulkhead to hide ductwork - Large fan mounted in the ceiling with variable speed control switch wired near the equipment - Wall mounted tv - Custom cabinent with shelves above - Ledge on one wall Bedroom - Suspended ceiling using 2 x 2 tiles - Two small closets - Ledge on one wall 3/4 Bathroom - Heated tile floor - Custom tiled shower - Linen closest with custom shelves Pantry - Custom shelves that are nice and thick to support weight of canned food Motion Detector Lights in the area that will remain unfinished I did all the painting myself. Flooring was also not included in the price listed above.

(member name removed), the photos are a great addition to the review. Thanks for taking the time to post those. And you're right, I am a bit old fashioned and the best way to contact me is by phone. You were a pleasure to work with, and I hope we see eachother again soon.

They were very responsive with the free quote. I called for a quote in the morning and someone was out there in the afternoon. I had an official quote in my email inbox hours later. I elected to do the hardwood floors myself, but they were very professional in their quoting, very fast and from what I gathered would have done an excellent job.
Description of Work: I wanted to get a quote on what re-finishing my hardwood floors would cost.

Bruce showed up every day until the work was done. Price was very fair for the quality of work. No complaints at all.
Description of Work: I had a 1960's rec room that needed to be modernized. Bruce and the sub he used for the electrical work tore out the old suspended ceiling, drywalled the walls (previously old panel) and added a new ceiling w/recessed lights and also created a new dividing wall w/door to block off an unfinished portion of the basement.

Mr Jennings came out to the house, looked at what we wanted done, and said that he would provide an estimate via email. A week went by - no estimate. I emailed him asking for the estimate - no reply. Another week went by - no estimate. I emailed him A SECOND TIME - no reply. I haven't heard from the guy since he came out to the house. I even asked in my second email to tell me if this job was too small for him, just let me know! (taking out the wall between the kitchen and family room).Never heard from the guy. HOW DO YOU STAY IN BUSINESS WITH THIS KIND OF 'CUSTOMER SERVICE' ?!? (I should have known this was going to happen, I guess, since one other review in Angie's List commented on the same issue - he never got back to the customer). Live and learn...
Description of Work: NONE - the guy never got back to us!

He was a no-show to our first meeting at our home. He had an excuse for not showing but none for not calling. Still, we gave him a shot. He showed for the second meeting and we arranged for him to do work - e en ordered a cabinet and parts for him to do the work. We were supposed to call when the materials came in which we did. We left a couple of messages for him with no return call. Would not recommend.
Description of Work: He never performed work because he never returned our call once materials we ordered arrived. He left us hanging.

They did a good job. He has good prices.
Description of Work: They did some drywall and installed a door.
Project went extremely well. I did not have to worry about a detail, as he handles all those for me.
Description of Work: My son's room needed an overhaul. Wood floors were in bad shape and he really needed some furniture. When I shopped around for dressers and wall units, I was blown away by the poor quality. I asked Bruce if he could build some custom pieces, for a reasonable price. So he refinished the floors and built a wall unit and dresser. Amazing craftsmanship...like in the olden days!
The project is still being built, but it is going great so far. Once we gave the go ahead, he came in the next day to start. He is very tidy. I will write a follow up report when he is finished.
Description of Work: Bruce is building a finished pantry in our unfinished basement. He was very responsive and came out the same day we talked to him to review what we wanted. His quote was very good.

Over all, he was on time. He's kind of hard to get in touch with, though :-(
Description of Work: Bruce designed and built a custom dining room hutch, made out of cherry. It turned out very nice. I would have rated him higher, but he has not finished putting in some molding around the hutch. It has been 1-1/2 years!
Bruce and his crew did a great job working within my schedule and around my 2yr old sons nap time. Containing the "construction cleanup" to the lower level and not tracking through the house. Working with my on-the-fly changes and additions to the original quote yielded minor charges to me and in the end the project was a success. The only holdups were, not the fault of bruce but working with the (understaffed building dept.) city for permits in which added time to the final completion date, something i didn't plan for.
Description of Work: Finished my basement from a clean shell (house of 5yrs old) to an office and future theater room.including framing walls, finish drywall work and all electrical services(lights, outlets etc.)

After speaking to several other larger companies who either charged a flat rate for the repair only (a significantly higher one at that), said that we would have to take out the window and bring it to the shop ourselves, and/or claimed that there was no way to fix one pane without replacing the set, we were delighted to find Bruce. He was very personable and did a great job for a great price.
Description of Work: We had a broken pane of glass in our upstairs bedroom window. Bruce was friendly and fair in his quote ($50), came to the house, took the broken pane out, took it with him to the repair shop, brought it back when finished and installed it himself.
I initially hired Bruce Jennings to remove an ugly metal banister, and replace with a wood banister, near my front stairs. While he was estimating the work for me, we got on the discussion of my floors, and how I had hired a home improvement store to install wood flooring for me. I showed Bruce the wood flooring I had ordered, and my plans for installation. Thank Goodness! He set me straight. Not only had I ordered the wrong type of flooring for my home, but the estimate to install was outrageous. Bruce offered a re-estimate, returned the flooring FOR ME, and then proceeded to install wood floors throughout my home, for half the cost of the home improvement store. The project took a couple weeks, and of course was a bit chaotic with three young children running around. Every day, when I came home, it was amazing. All work materials were neatly put away, not a speck of dust anywhere. I was so comfortable with Bruce and his crew that I actually gave him a key. Bruce is truly a craftsman, and I have hired him since to do multiple jobs around my home. He goes above and beyond in his work, and really cares about the final product. He does beautiful cabinetry work too, so now I am saving to hire him to do my kitchen. If you have a project that involves woodworking, Bruce is the guy to hire.
Description of Work: Removed old and ugly metal banister, replaced with custom-build, solid wood banister. Removed white carpeting from throughout home, and replaced with gorgeous wood flooring. Sanded and refinished wood floors we discovered under wood carpet--and they are beautiful.
