"Bob did a great job. Everything was nice and neat. Only small problem we had with him is the promise to be out to do the repair the following week, but heard nothing all week. We called him the following Monday and he explained that he had lost an employee and that he was very busy. Bob said he would be there on Friday in the afternoon. He did come late Friday afternoon and did the repair even continuing when it started raining. We are very pleased with Bob's Complete Construction."

"We spent several weeks looking into concrete contractors and attempting to get bids for a decorative concrete patio in our back yard. We've found Angie's list to be very helpful with all sorts of home services like irrigation, landscaping, gutters and other skilled trades. However, there really doesn't seem to be a lot of feedback on reasonably priced concrete contractors. Most of the vendors we spoke with were either booked out months in advance (and weren't interested in returning our calls), were very expensive or they just didn't appear to be very reputable.

When we looked at Bill's website, it didn't appear that someone who would do this kind of work would be interested in driving to the Greater Grand Rapids area and then doing a small patio job.

However, we found that Bill was exactly what we were looking for. We wanted someone who had years of experience, took exceptional pride in their work and yet wanted to keep their company small so that they can still do excellent work at a reasonable price. We didn't want the most expensive guy or the cheapest guy on the block. We wanted excellent value and we wanted the work done right the first time. That's exactly what we got with Bill. He was prompt, his crew was very polite and they completed our job in a very timely fashion. Most importantly, the job was done perfectly. We can't say enough about how amazing our new patio looks. All the neighbors are jealous!

If you are located anywhere near the greater GR area, I would highly recommend that you contact Bill. You will find him to be excellent with decorative concrete, very honest, easy to work with and his pricing very reasonable."

Repair Patio questions, answered by experts

Yes, a sunroom will require a permit. You may just need a general construction permit for a screened-in porch or solarium. For a three-season room with electricity and a four-season room with electric, heating, and cooling, you’ll need additional permits for each of the utilities, as well as a roofing permit.

A sunroom may count toward your home's total square footage or living space if it meets certain conditions, which can vary by local regulations. Generally, for a sunroom to be included, it must be fully enclosed, properly insulated, and equipped with electrical access and a heating and cooling (HVAC) system, similar to a four-season room. It should also meet the same construction standards as the rest of the house. Three-season sunrooms that function more like enclosed porches typically do not count toward the total square footage and are considered exterior living space.

With proper maintenance, the average life span of a screened-in porch is six to eight years for the screens themselves, but the foundation and structure can last for 50 to 100 years. To keep your screened-in porch in good shape, clean your porch screens regularly, patch holes, re-seal the wood as needed, and address any foundational issues right away.

Costs range from $500 to $5,000, depending on damage severity and required materials.

A well-constructed and well-maintained sunroom can last as long as the rest of your house. If you build the sunroom to the same standards using the same quality materials as the house and perform regular maintenance to ensure the room stays in top condition, it can bring you decades of enjoyment.
