"James was very honest with me and told me the problem was due to downspouts dumping out at the foundation which needed to be redirected. Leaks were minor and he told me I won't need his services. I tried to pay him for his time and he would not take any money. If and when I need foundation service he will be my first call. Good guy and very professional."

"They were very timely in there calling to hear my needs and assist in my problem. Unfortunately they were not able to help with the type of work needed (raising building and replace foundation of garage) Very courteous and helpful in possibly redirecting back to Home Advisor or to another Professional who could help me."

"The man that came to our house was very nice and we felt as though he was not trying to sell us a basement system, but more-so a piece of mind. Also, he explained exactly where everything would be and how it would all work. Thanks, Roger!"

"I have 2 houses, one in Oklahoma and one here. They both have AHS. The price is $75 if it's covered. The problem with AHS is every house that we've ever owned has been on a slab and AHS does not pay for anything, like they don't pay for plumbing encased in concrete. So all your plumbing runs through the slab and I've had 3 different instances having to do with slab leaks that AHS paid out $500 and the actual repair costs were between 2000 and 10000. It works really well for a lot of stuff but if you have a house with a slab, you have to expect that you'll end up paying a lot if you have a leak."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Almost any kind of home can have a wine cellar or cabinet installed. You’ll need an area where a concrete floor can be put in, along with the necessary insulation, climate control, and ventilation systems. If you think of yourself as an aspiring sommelier, an underground wine cellar may be ideal, but it will cost significantly more.

What you choose to install really depends on your budget and how many bottles you’re looking to store.

If the time has come to install a French drain in your yard, basement, or crawl space, there's a solid chance you've been battling water damage—or the threat of water damage—around these areas. Thankfully, proper drainage should allow you to redesign these areas of your home without the fear of being inundated during the next storm. If you've had to remove a portion of your lawn for an exterior French or curtain drain, consider reseeding your lawn to patch up the spot. You can also take this opportunity to enhance your foundation waterproofing methods or even start thinking about finishing your basement .

Due to the nature of basements, some level of waterproofing is necessary to prevent water from seeping in and causing damage. Some definitive signs that your basement needs waterproofing measures or needs existing waterproofing measures need to be updated include:

  • Water in your basement, including damp walls or puddles on the floor

  • Mold spots in your basement

  • Musty smells or odors

  • Warped doors or walls

  • Cracks in walls

  • Insect issues, such as cockroaches and termites

Installation typically takes 3-7 days, depending on the system and site conditions.

Gravity can make it difficult to make plumbing work in a garage if your plumbing is lower than your drainage point. Fortunately, there are ways to create drainage when adding a bathroom to a sunken garage. Plumbers will recommend using an upflush system that discharges into a pump from the back of the toilet.
